pretty certain they won a round 1 or round 2 game (first home game for the year anyway) at Elizabeth in 1999, they won by at least 6 goals iirc, the day was extremly hot and i sat up the north western pocket with my nan, wasnt the greatest way to start a season especially when we had recruited Platten and McAdam

Round 2, 1999 was the last time South won at Elizabeth (McAdam and Platten had retired by then).

I seem to remember that it might have been Heath Hopwood's first season, I think he broke Ham's(?) jaw that day.

Probably be a hell of a lot warmer than our game at Noarlunga on 21 May, which is a Saturday night match.

Check the overnight temperature around suburban Adelaide, you'll barely find a 1 degree difference between Noarlunga and anywhere else, toughen up you blokes!

I'm a bit bemused at talk of rushing back in O'Hara, Nash & J Gowans based on the fact that they played well in the Ressies. I'd be worried if blokes with the experience they have didnt put in a decent performance at that level?

Dont think for a minute that there wasnt enough talent in the Dogs line up last Friday - it was just that a capable opposition wanted it more.
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

I was only half joking Squawk! Based on Friday nights woeful performance we are a fair way from our best and South at home is probably one of the easier hit-outs to play our way into some form and to score a win and hopefully some percentage.

Hard to tell at this stage mate. The three blokes i named would be starting 18 players in every single SANFL side.

From the blokes who played league against West i think
-Schiller will be a gun in 2-3 years but currently has played less than 10 league games so he will develop,
-Hardy is at the crossroads, he has been giving plenty of chances and on occasions has taken them only to play a shocker a week later.
-Matty Westoff will be better once everyones fit and he can play as the 3rd tall forward, he is not an SANFL number 1 or 2 marking option
-Reichart, there is something Lairdy loves about this bloke, personally i cant see what but i guess all people will back Lairdys judgement in before my own, i dont think his SANFL standard yet!
-Habel, has so much ability and talent but drifts in and out of games, tends to go well when the dogs are playing well but have rarely seen him play well when the team struggles. With age i think this player will become very handy 1-2 years in the making imho.
