I wasn't too keen on this concept at first, but I think R&B has hit the nail on the head. Unfortunately I think the long term plan of the AFL would be for their competition to eventually supercede state leagues.

I hope the consensus is right and Westies do win! I've put my free $10 bet from sportsbet on West Adelaide to win at $151. Decent odds I would have thought?

Swan Districts 4.25
Northern Bullants 4.75
East Perth 5.00
Williamstown 5.50
Claremont 6.00
North Ballarat 7.00
Labrador 34.00
Clarence 41.00
North Adelaide 41.00
Morningside 51.00
Port Adelaide 51.00
East Coast Eagles 81.00
NT Thunder 101.00
West Adelaide 151.00
Ainslie 251.00
Greater Western Sydney 501.00

You would expect Westies to easily account for Ainslie in their first match, but they face the winner of Swan Districts and Williamstown in a tougher QF match.
North should beat Labrador, but will almost certainly face Port in a QF.

Williamstown for me. The WAFL teams are garbage and swans will get touched up by willy.

Agreed ... can't believe West Adelaide's odds compared with Clarences, Labradors and the East Coast Eagles

I think its a fantastic market.

Let's hope the match odds are similar!

Ive gone $50 North and $20 Westies. Go the SANFL! :D
I don't think we'll win but those odds are way over IMHO.

Agree, although as a Bloods fan R&B you're getting good value for money !!!

What price do you think West should be at?

Would have thought around about the $8 or $9 for westies.
Claremont and Swans way too low, swans $4.50 favourites you got to be kidding.
GWS good value for a sly punt, they will improve dramastically and if they can sneak a round or two they could cause some damage, dont forget they are trialling against AFL sides and should get decent experience.

I think Westies will be a solid team during the foxtel cup and would consider them in the top few as favourites.
Greater Western Sydney may improve but in all honesty they will not progress past their first game! Sure they have being playing against AFL teams but surely a Westies team would have done a better job? In two words CANNON FODDER!(at least for this year)
Will be an interesting comp with the VFL, WAFL and SANFL having the strongest teams, but as always there will be a surprise packet and the two queensland sides in Labrador and Morningside may not be the push over people are thinking. North will have to be switched on for their first game! As for the Port magpies they should hammer their inferior opposition. Westies should be able to easily account for Ainslie at home.
I'll definately go to the show down now as I am looking forward to seeing westies start off with a good win! GO THE SANFL TEAMS!

The only explanation I can see for those ridiculously long SANFL odds is that they are being underwritten by the AFL in a desperate bid to get the SANFL teams to take the competition seriously by putting money on themselves to win, thus effectively increasing the prizemoney for them.

If the SANFL teams are taking it seriously, they should all be less than $10.

Not necessarily in my case, although I think they have every chance and the disparity in the original odds offered between the Victorian & WA teams as opposed to our 3 teams were far from an accurate appraisal of their respective strengths in my opinion.

As a betting man - I'm happy to take a plunge
