If people go through my posts i have been against the comp from the beginning regardless of Central participating or not.

To me this comp reminds me alot of the T20 Big Bash, its very entertaining while its on and gives the playing group the oppurtunity to strive for another trophy but at the end of the day what does it really mean?

Like the T20 Big Bash it was great to watch the lads in the final which had a great atmosphere and i enjoyed it on the night but come the next day it really meant nothing, there was no continuing celebrations as the 'real' season is still ahead of them, even the players were on t.v talking about how they had training the next day and were on the waters for the most part.

How many people of the top of their head can list all the t20 big bash winners, this is where this competition is heading imho. Nice competition and fun to join in but at the end of the day it has no reflection on how success a club is or will be. A team may win this but all will be forgetten within 7 days when they play an SANFL game which could decide their season campaign.

I would have liked to have seen Sturt compete in this Mickey Mouse competition.

... at present the SANFL is a one-horse race and has become incredibly predictable, competing in an alternate competition would have provided something different and interesting to follow even if only for the short term.

incredibly predictable? We only won the Grand Final last year by 1 goal & most people don't think We have a chance this year!

You've had the fittest and most switched on team possible the last couple of years already...

... like my side, your team just pissed it away.

Ty Allen can go down with a season ending injury during training or some scratch match pre-season. He can go down in rounds 1-5, all tragic possibilities, the odds of him going down against Ainslie aren't any higher.

No chance ? Raging favourites again. How could they not be ,most sides lost a lot of players except Centrals. Should be the shortest price favourites in history.

Agreed. I haven't come across anyone who doesn't think Central will win it this season.

... I spoke to Grantley Fielke on the weekend, even he *yawned* at the prospect of another Dogs premiership.

Nothing Dogs fans can do about it...

PS LOL at Graham Cornes's comments about the Bays the other night on 5AA!

I agree the talent scouts would be taking notice, but that happens anyway regardless of having this competition.

If it were such a good idea, why did are 3 of the bottom teams the ones involved after the top teams declined?

Why did cricket players stick with the ACB rather than go to Kerry Packers WSC?

Why did cricket players decide to do rebel tours rather than stick with the ACB?

Calculated risk.

For some people the risk outweighed the benefit, for others, the opposite. Caution will win out in the short term, but if it grows legs, you'll see the top sides jumping at the opportunity.

Just that they can't win the SANFL so they might as well as try their luck in a different comp.

Here's an interesting bit of info, the last 2 SANFL clubs that played in an interstate knockout comp during the season played off in the SANFL Grand Final!

They've lost their best ruckman, their best key position player, their full back and possibly their best midfielder to AFL duties.

Oh, I get it now..Things are too predictable in the SANFL, Too hard to knock off the Dogs so bugger it lets go play in another comp that we might be able to win!!!

Things get tough, you find a way to change and improve you don't turn your back on it and try to be a winner somewhere else that might be easier!!!

Where is the pride in that?

Interesting comment from earlier says it all. There's not one Port, North or Westies supporter complaining that they ARE playing in the comp.

And I'd say the only way your mob are going to improve is to start training at a bigger oval.

3 players ? What midfielder to AFL ? Callinan is a rookie which requires him to be upgraded first .
