OK who were some of the really quick players over the years from your club ?
Let me start it off then ...
From my club.....Phillips is a current player and real quick but before him. Horrie Nelson of the 60's, Tony Francis, Warren Packer.

Other clubs ...... Michael Graham, Peter Vivian, Tony Antrobus, Chris Radbone ( Sturt and a friend of mine ...lol ).

OK lets here your thoughts.

how would paul puopolo compare to simon phillips in your eyes ? i reckon paul puopolo is as quick as simon phillips
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Off the mark, I reckon Phillips is JUST quicker over Puopolo but I think Puoplo gets quicker as he goes...

Both up there with the quickest I saw in the league this season...

Nope..... Chris Radbone in the late Oatey era. Did a knee and his playing days where cut very short.
Played baseball with him at Kensington and I was real quick but so was Chris.

Yes Centurion, who was that other Centrals player who was a good middle distance runner ?
Was it Peter Bubner ?
I would back Phil Carmen against anyone over 800m and further.

Maybe I am off subject I was talking about blistering pace.

Robert Oatey once said at a coaching clinic I was at .... " Pace is most important over the first 5m ". Explosive break away power which RO had in spades.

I will though in another one. Barry Robran had a long lopy running style but he was was quick. Not often caught. Now there was a true champion !

Out of all those players mentioned, maybe a few of them MIGHT have got close enough to just lay a finger tip on "the ANT"
-Standing start to full pace in about 3 strides.

From a standing start I bet he couldn't beat Grenville to the buffet at the Roosters Club on a Saturday night....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Greg Anderson.

State U16s 400m champion back in the day.

IIRC, Paul Northeast won a state sprint under-age title, too...

From Central's current side, Eddie Sansbury, Paul Thomas and Ian Callinan are 'reasonably' quick...
