Thoroughly enjoyed the game today, an incredible atmosphere and I must admit to being guilty of writing off the Doggies at 1/2 time. I'd seen them in the flesh 3 times previously this year and seen them beaten well each time. They were made to look slow and past it by a rampaging Norwood in the second term - they couldn't get back into the game could they? But then of course...wow, a terrific team effort. Hats off Dogs.

BTW Congrats to Phil H for his articulate summary in the Footy Budget today of why the inclusion of Crows and Power reserves teams in the SANFL would be detrimental to the competition. It should be required reading for the clowns on the 5AA Saturday sports show (Wildy, Clarke, McLeod) who can see this as the only way forward for betterment of SA footy, by which they mean the Crows and Power of course. The SANFL is a different beast these days for sure but as anyone who witnessed today's game can attest, it is a healthy, vibrant and independent competition that never should be seen as purely a feeder of the AFL - there is, believe it or not, more to footy in SA than the Crows and Power.
"A no vote from any club means there is some sort of risk involved in our entry into the competition not working," Steven Trigg.

Just got back from the game - what an absolute cracker. I have very little voice left after today but am willing to live with that. I reckon this was certainly the best grand final we have won (barring 2000) with the result going right down to the wire.
Interesting to hear on 5AA, the sometimes SANFL station, that the split between supporters was 60 / 40 Norwood's way. I guess sitting behind the Northern goals in Bay 221 you felt it was the opposite. Fantastic atmosphere and looking forward to family day at the Ponderosa tomorrow.
Congrats to Norwood for a great game today. I felt it was going to be a 50 / 50 outcome before the game and it certainly panned out that way.

Will this reign of Central dominance ever end. The other 8 clubs must step up and get better if it is to happen. Congratulations Bulldogs - thoroughly deserved once again. 11 consecutive Grand Finals and 4 consecutive premierships and 9 in total. I'm stll proud to be an Eagle though as we're the last team to beat them in a premiership decider.

A great day at the footy. Great atmosphere, great game. Some great goals kicked with a difficult breeze.
Thought the turning point was just before half time when the Dogs got the momentum back to 50-50, and were within striking distance. Norwood really should have kicked one more goal as a reward for their efforts in the 2nd, but it was Schell rewarded Centrals efforts right at the end of the third which was so crucial.
Norwood probably hampered with injuries, Shenton going down at half time robbed them of flexibility, and didn't have anyone on the bench when Schultz went off with about 10 or so minutes to go.

When was the last time so many goals were kicked from Tony Hall's pocket? 4 in the first half from memory, stunning!

How many goals have to get kicked from there before we stop calling it Tony Hall's pocket FFS?

And well done Tim Weatherald, great to see so many stop and acknowledge his contribution to the game. Few get to 300 games, well done Tim.

Here here! Congrats on giving your all to the SANFL Soccers :)

Who knows...if that last kick of his didn't just smash into the post then things could have been even closer...in a different universe.

p.s. that's the first time I've seen Tim kick a 50+ metre drop punt since...ever

Well done Doggies. I managed to get to the game after one of the most emotional/challenging weeks of my life and enjoyed a monumental performance from both sides.
I was worried after the second quarter but the third got the boys back on track.
I told my brother in law that all we had to do was score one goal at the northern end and it would be ours. I was, thankfully, spot on.
Strangely, even though the Legs got to within a goal, I wasn't worried, we were playing well enough to shut the game down.
Great to see Smac, Sam, Centurion and WHUFC in the last quarter celebrations.
Even after all of this decade's success I still get emotional after a win and this time around was a very, very special one for me.

Thank you to the CDFC for giving me another reason to smile a massive grin.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

One flare today was it?

Also, well done to the Weslo goons for doing their job today.
They asked me to stop standing on the chair during the after match celebrations.
I'm not sure how they were going to stop the thousands of other people from doing so....

Congrats to the CDFC and its 9th flag, also congrats to Norwood, a gutsy effort.

A great game of footy.

Interesting that it was the older blokes who dragged the Dogs over the line, with the retirements coming the mantle will be tougher than ever to keep their record continuing. For the first time I can remember I think there were some genuine passengers in the Dogs line up today.

Just got back from the post game celebrations and what a dog day afternoon it was.

The day started off well for me with some good banter with the 'legs supporters on the long bus ride from Adelaide to West Lakes.

The first quarter was notable for the straight kicking for goals and Centrals continued Norwoods poor first quarter record to take a three goal lead.

The second quarter was all Norwood and they displayed Collingwood-esque rebound from defence and made the most of all their opportunities to head in to half time with a three goal break of their own.

The third quarter saw a masterstroke from Centrals coach Roy Laird, switching Eddie (Sansbury) into defence and Delta (Goodrem) into the forward line. This upset Bassetts somewhat wooden (very Neil Craig like) coaching style, with both Eddie and Delta running amok and having some very telling touches in their respective positions.

At the final change I realised Norwwods legs were failing them, with about half a dozen players receiving heavy massages in their huddle. To their credit they fought back well but Centrals always had their measure and ran out worthy winners.

Full credit to Norwood for their season and for inflicting the closest margin on Centrals in Grand Finals. Full credit too to the Dogs for fighting back from a poor position at half time.

The game lowlight for me was losing my $10 I placed on Buckets (Mackenzie) to win the Jack Oatey. He played very well but was not as dominant as two weeks ago.

The game highlight for me was scamming my way into the rooms after the game to hear the club song and to meet some of the players . :D

Bring on 2011 it is going to be a long off-season...

Technically with the NE'er that was blowing it wasn't "The Tony Hall Pocket", basically the opposite and anyone sitting in the members wouldve seen just how much the ball bent into the Sthn goals from the SW pocket.
