"If Allan wins it'll be a win for the bloke who gets heaps of cheap touches "

This is a bit harsh!!!

While watching North this year (and last) was a bit like signing up to a course of B&D there were two guys who pushed themselves consistently all year - Alleway and Allan. When u play for North you can't get cheap touches cos not many of the others go in to get them for you!

Well done on the year Jimmy - if you win the medal you deserve it. If it weren't for you and Allers (and a bit from a couple of others (Wright, Thring, Leroy, Thompson) we would not even have gone close to the nine wins!

I would love to see Scott Lewis win the medal, he's a top bloke.
However, the fact the media pundits aren't mentioning him in the betting ranks suggests that he won't win it.
This is probably because he's a lesser known player than those actually mentioned, which could also be a factor when it comes to the people who give the votes.

I really hope that the winner (if not a dogs player) is Lower, Giles, Zorzi or Allen. Those blokes are the sort I worry about getting the ball at all, not someone I'm happy to see get it.

Cheap touches - not confusing him with James Boyd are you?

Has led the league in possessions in each of his 4 yrs in the SANFL, won the MM in his first season in 2007, should have polled better in 2008 equal third by one or two votes, runner up last year and was robbed and favourite again this year. With an ounce of luck could have been going for 4 in a row to be honest. Plus he has polled more votes than any other player in the past 3 years - will add to that this year. Yep, cheap kicks alright!

Last year everyone thought that Allan was going to poll 9 votes in the last 3 matches. When he was leading with 3 rounds to go everyone thought he was home. He only got 2 votes in total from those 3 matches and Archard got 9 votes. Incidentally in the NAFC best and fairest last year, Allan got b.o.g. in the last 3 matches.

I guarantee that Allan won't poll 3 votes in the North win at Noarlunga early in the year. I believe that George Thring played very, very, very well that day.

Thring killed us at Prospect early in the year too, along with Alleway and Gill...maybe they'll all take a few votes from Allen?

I would be amazed if Gill polled many votes at all. He had a very poor season. Allan and Alleway carried North for most of the year. Thring was good early as was Ivens and K Thomson was good late. The rest would be lucky to poll a vote between them.

IMHO, Zorz had a better year in 2009 but only polled about 10 votes. Could poll well early and would need a good lead by the middle of the count.

Giles - umpires may give ruckmen a vote from time to time but never enough to win the medal.

Allan - By his own standards, not as good this year as when he won the medal, but is a proven vote getter .. and the fact people are backing him could tell the story.

Callinan - should poll very well early and should be amongst the leaders at the finsh.

Lower - the type of player umpires love to vote for and should do well.

As for some others, Ty Allen from the Bays and Jade Sheedy from Sturt have played well every time I've seen them this season and should be amongst the leaders. Simon Phillips could also grab some votes with some blistering performances mid-season. Maybe the Norwood midfielders will steal votes from each other.

Can't really see the medal going to anyone outside this group, but when it comes to Magarey Medals and umpires' decisions, I'm rarely in alignment with the men in white. :)

SPORTSBET have suspended betting as they are anticipating leaked information
Left in no doubt there was a ''leak''' last year- closed betting on the MM after rd 23 this season, having suffered a loss on the 2009 count

Todays report
ADVERTISER 14/9/2010

Allan, Callinan emerging favourites
LONG ODDS A LEAK
It goes on to say local Bookmaker John Thornton is not concerned about the threat of a mag medal leak
Thornton anaylist spokesman Michael Grant also re-iterates that he has confidence that there are no leaks

These are the fluctuations of the 4 favourites in todays press

$3-00 INTO $2-00 ALLAN
$4-00 INTO $3-10 CALLINAN
$5-00 INTO $4-50 ZORZI
$9-00 INTO $8-00 GUM

Appears to be a leak on those 4 players perhaps ....

Maybe he only gets cheap kicks when he plays against the dogs and is a different man against the rest of the comp? Doubt it though. Leading the league in possessions for 4 years doesn't matter if most of them are only going sideways in the back half of the ground.

Jimmy Allan is one of the hardest working players in the SANFL, have a good look during a game , he works himself that hard he usually throws up 3 or 4 times a game.Good luck Jimmy, one of the few highlights in our year, should really be going for medal # 3, was ripped off big time last year.

Sorry, but anyone who says Jim Allan only picks up soft possessions really hasn't been watching too closely.

On tonights News on 9, Allan actually said that peronally this was his best season but the teams form detracts from that.

Ditto MP.......love to see the little blood nut win it. Unfortunately the last half of the year will let him down.....just did not win enough games to get votes. He is a stand out in a average team this year. ;)
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

Now - mod Jas - will we have a "live count" thread going for those who cant access the video stream? (A leaderboard at least?).
