Norwood to me just seem to have a little more pace than the Bays which appears to make them more dangerous.
Perhaps the Bays area little similar to the Eagles of 2004-06, but of a feeling they had better teams and given it their best shot the few years previous?

If your 10 goals ahead, a 5 goal win to the bays would close the gap. Think about it.

I see any out of Glenelg, Norwood, the Eagles and Sturt all being capable of stopping the Central dynasty this year. I still think our biggest threat is Sturt (even if they do have a battle to even make the finals at present). However, I would not go into a match against any of those four sides with great confidence.
For Glenelg to take top spot, it would almost certainly require Central to lose two matches. We are currently ahead of them on a points for and against basis by 188. As our Points For are just short of theirs, this really equates to about 190. Thus, at present, they would need to beat Central by 15 goals to make up the percentage in one match. Admittedly, both sides still play three other games and big wins by the Bays in those would go someway to making the percentage up.

Cheers

sorry i worked out they would have to win by 10 goals against us if that was the case, sorry i didn't explain myself.

Plus my math isn't very great so i could be wrong.

people on here might think a team is flying under the radar but that means jack shit. Do you honestly think that the coaches & coaching staff at all the clubs to be involved in September & October take things that lightly?

I think Glenelg are as good a chance as any recent year to win the Premiership in 2010.

A massive bonus for them come finals time will be the experienced, hard-nut agression of Josh Carr, something they didn't have last year.

Also, Danny Meyer, if available to them from the Power (yes he has qualified but Port still have to give him permission to play) can add versatility, while their forwards are very accurate this year compared to season's past.

The BIG test for the Bays is the mental monkey on the back about their straight sets exit last year. Yes, not all playing this year were there last but it would have to test the resolve of some players and it's a matter of how much they let it effect their performance or not.

I think the Bays COULD win the flag this year, after all isn't it the Chinese Year of the Tiger ?

That is a possible advantage, but I think the lack of physical size compared to the Bays and Dogs (and Eagles) could hurt just as much the other way.

Despite the last contest between the two, I don't think my boys match up as well on the Bays as they do some other clubs .. In fact I can't recall Todd Grima ever having a quiet game against Norwood.

Come finals time, any team that lines up against us will have our full and undivided attention. I don't think any team is under Roy's radar.

But it's a kind of sly and sneaky second.

LMAO - I hope so but in about 3 weeks time there will no doubt be all sorts of talk going around when the sides are picked for Glenelg v Central. If top spot is sewn up and the Bays have a double chance sewn up - and let's just say neither team's reserves are certainties to make finals, we could see an interesting scenario:

Both sides resting players regardless
Both sides dropping players to the ressies to try and get their ressies team into the finals series so the whole squad can keep training
Both sides eagerly qualifying AFL players if Primus and Craig (who cant make the AFL finals) start looking at junior players and a few guys get dropped back to the SANFL.

Not sure on the qualification rule for a player to play reserves finals - do you have to play a minimum number of reserves games in the minor round to be able to play reserves finals? Or do you have to call up u/18s players?

So many possibilities....it will be an interesting month ahead. Almost a mini-finals series of sorts.

Central play Port (h), Eagles (a), Sturt (a) and Glenelg (hm)
Glenelg play the Eagles (a), South (hm), Norwood (hm) and Central (a)
Norwood has a bye, then Sturt (hm), Glenelg (a) and West (hm)
Eagles have Glenelg (hm), Central (hm), North (a) and Sturt (hm)
West has Sturt (hm), Port (hm), South (a) and Norwood (a).
Sturt has West (a), Norwood (a), Central (hm) and Eagles (a).

How those results pan out at reserves level is just as interesting as how they pan out at league level.

But irrespective, the Bays could be in their premiership window in 2010 you'd think. Yet no one seems to want to talk about them in that way! All we hear about is Ty Allen's beard and Bechara Palmer!

I wonder if the Eagles are in fact flying under peoples radar on here(not the coaches) .3 out of the last 4 games at the Fortress .Now in no way am I suggesting the Eagles will beat Glenelg and the Dogs.Mind you they could and need to to finish higher than 4th or 5th during the finals series .But they couldn't could they ?
And along a similar line West could or should win 3 out of their last 4 games .Are they to flying under the Radar!!!

Personally a team as high as 2nd and just behind Centrals is not flying under anyones radar ;) .
