I stupidly thought the Roosters were half a chance today. Continue to under estimate the Legs though.

Agree. They are comparable to Hawthorn this year in that they are coming from so far back everyone keeps waiting for them to fall over because they have expended so much physical and mental energy to catch up with the pack. But, unlike Hawthorn, they keep keeping on, and I think they are the best chance to knock off Centrals as I think they are a bit quicker than the Bays and if anyone catches Centrals on a bad day, the Legs are in the best position to take advantage of it.

I think some posters missed something....
There was a bloody good team out there yesterday playing good direct, hard football. North were not that bad, just made look ordinary by a good team.

Agreed, can we start the Bays v Norwood thread for rd 22 now? Norwood are playing some real good football. I reckon it is going to be a beauty of a game. Really deserves a crowd of a minimum of 5000.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Whereas I do think Norwood are a good side this season, I didn't think we necessarily played all that well yesterday. North were really poor, and had Norwood produced some of the footy we have during the season, the final margin could have been even more embarrassing for the Roosters.

I thought Norwood had a number of periods during the day where our footy became very sloppy and against a team playing better than North are, we could have really struggled. However, at times Norwood played very good footy, our tackling was far superior to North's and we missed less "getable" chances at goal than they did.

I have to say this, and perhaps a Rooster fan can help me out. This is the second time we've played North this year and both times Gill was in defence. Whereas he did some useful things yesterday, he is far more dangerous to Norwood when he is playing forward. Also, I've never seen Jim Allen make so many fundamental ball handling errors, and Archard usually rips us apart but he was ineffectual today. North just seem to be playing without spirit or confidence. Thought McIntyre did a good job for them though. I am genuinely shocked by the way North is playing.

I took the time to read the rocketrooster link
There are a lot of disenchanted Rooster barrackers

The posts that intruiged me was the one about Clint Alleway to play for NW in 2011 ???????????????????????????
Hope so
He is one player that gives it all

As for the rest of 2010
I say let the players off the leash
Play attacking footy
There is so much talent at Prospect and its being wasted
Even be audacious and play Nick Gill and Daniel Motlop deep in attack ....

Yes, I read that with interest as well. I haven't heard that rumour around Norwood but perhaps I'm not talking to the right people :)

Would love to have Alleway at the Parade, and I'll be chasing this one up to see if there's anything in it.

Re the Alleway rumour - if he goes anywhere it will back home interstate! Not even North's heirachy are that stupid to let him go to a rival SANFL club! If we lost the likes of Alleway and Allan which under the present set of circumstances that exist at Prospect then we have hit absolute rock bottom.

I think the Alleway rumour may also stem from 2006 when Alleway was looking at playing for Norwood but didn't want to play under Dale Lewis, so he signed with North. As it turned out, Lewis didn't coach in 2006, so Alleway may have been a Redleg instead.

Looking at north's team today, it is astounding how that group of players could play so poorly. I think it's fair to say they've been unsettled with injuries and players coming and going to AFL, etc, but the thing that struck me today is I don't think I've seen a North team so bereft of pace and spirit. Players who usually bother Norwood put in very average perfromances today, even Allen and Archard missing gimme goals. I have never been one to single out an opposition player and sink the boot in, but North had one player out there today who is just wasting everyone's time, and I think we all know who that is.

I was delighted to see Cam Shenton with 5 majors today.

I'd suggest there were 2 in that category and i'd only need to mention one name to cover both.

SDK Norwood were good but it was like watching a big brother smashing his younger sibling in the back yard

Player evaluations ;
Gill - more interested in trying to get a radio career going
Ackland - one of the biggest Prima Donna's playing in the comp.
Motlop M - an absolute mystery how he is on an AFL list whose disposal and thought process is crap and as soft as butter.
McIntyre - key defender who is mentally weak with average skills and lost all confidence.
Archard - not 100% fit and actually carrying a few extra pounds.
Stribling - simply not skilled enough for this level and a dead set average tagger at best
Whyman - supposed boom recruit who is soft physically and mentally

I could go on but all of the above are first 18 starters each week which shows where we are at and every youngster North bring up may be ok skill wise, but they are all physically not strong or big enough.
