I love the way you thought I was serious with an outrageous margin. Yes I thought we'd win but FFS, we're shit.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Agreed. I would also add Giles to the shortlist, but after that it was daylight - and on a day where the conditions were suited to small men...pathetic Sturt

Is it fair to say without Giles this season Sturt wouldn't have been within a bull's roar of finals? I've kept a bit of an eye on him and he seems to be good every game, kicking goals and giving Sturt first use week in week out. Given his play from what I've seen at least you'd have to say he's a chance to get another AFL chance next year. Overall, just another episode in a strange season for Sturt. Some great games where they look top 3 material, then others where they look like spoon contenders.

Absolutely shocking.
:(
If we won we would have equalled North's record of consecutive wins at Alberton by a visiting side.
If not for Sturt, Port would be bottom!
We have also screwed up our long run of victories over Westies this year, and are looking as though we are just too inconsistent to make the five. Never mind that we have beaten the top side twice and the 2nd and 3rd ranked sides once, that just demonstrates what the team is capable of.
Capability and desire are two different things though. Perhaps if we had Port's determination today for every game we have played this year, we'd actually be in the five and in a position to threaten for the flag.
Wasted bloody waste. The coulda' beens of 2010 just don't want it bad enough.

You're spot on Grahaml, he's been in our best most games and has been the only consistent performer except for Sheeds. I think he maybe off to an AFL team for another crack at the big time.

Well that was just embarrasingly pathetic. Well done to Port, their little guys just ran rings around us and if they can keep them for a while it should bode well for your club. The thing that amazes me is that we had quite a few fringe players from the 2's playing yesterday who didn't perform yet the 2's won against the 2nd side on the ladder to put them 2 clear on top, the only good thing I can take from yesterday apart from the good folk running the Bowls Club.
Time to have a clean out at Unley.

That is probably true, but with the Eagles virtually guaranteed finishing 4th, I am more apprehensive about facing Sturt, but pretty confident about playing West.

What a great performance by Port Adelaide.

I wasn't overly hopeful of us completing the double over Sturt, especially with the injury list as it currently stands. But that was a really goodperformance by the Magpies yesterday.

I thought we played the conditions beautifully, going long and direct to our targets up forward with the breeze at our backs.

I was really impressed by Dolling and Wanganeen. Luke Harder played like a man posessed and his fearless approach on the ball was 2nd to none. IMO, Harder's contested posession just behind the centre line at the early stages of the 3rd quarter was the nail in the coffin. The margin was about 4 goals and outnumbered 3 to 1, Harder threw himself into the contest, won the ball and somehow got it out to a team mate. We moved the ball forward, kicked a goal and then kicked another shortly after, lading to the fat lady clearing her throat.

While there were still a few skill errors, they were far fewer than in previous games I've seen this season. But at the end of the day, we just wanted it more than Sturt, which was very pleasing given respective ladder positions.

Sturt have lost away and won at Unley all games since the Magpies beat them round 9.
Could it be that the ugly away strip is the problem?

Ouch Crows were confident as well!!!

Point being don't think that the Blue Boys can just roll up and the result is a given, I think Port will make them earn their win but Sturt's mindset has to be up there or it could be AN UPSET -The UPSET of the round"

This was a post I did earlier on another topic as a response to the thoughts that all Sturt had to do was roll up and they would win the game- and unfortunately history will show that Sturt were the vanquished. From what I saw there are a couple of Port players based on their showing on Sunday that would and should get drafted-very quick and very balanced

Sturt need now to regroup, baring injuries Luke needs to settle the side so we can make an assault on the finals.
Pie in the sky stuff? not really; win the next four matches in the business end of the season and it will certainly keep the detractors quiet and our finals aspirations well and truly alive. At their best they have beaten the best but like anything it is never how you start, it is how you finish that counts, ask any Centrals supporter

Big Phil beat me to it, I was going to name Riley adn Cloke, forgot about Martin..

For most of the last half of 2008 Glenelg played with no listed AFL players in its League team, in fact I think we were the first GF team since 1990 to have no AFL listed players in the selected side.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Technically Sturt didn't have any AFL listed players in last years granny - Toby had been cut by the power by then! Trengove, Coad and Jaensch went on to be drafted, and Bode had previously been on Melbourne's list but could barely get a game for the worst AFL side around.

Jonathon Giles was the only AFL listed player in Central's Premiership side last year, although Joffa never played an AFL game for the Power.

Back to the topic at hand, I was also impressed yesterday with the youngsters from Port Adelaide, Cameron Miller looks good off half back as well.
