I tried to predict each game to give me an idea of who to select as finishing fifth. Did all others who entered this poll just make their choice blindly without giving consideration as to why one team would finish above another? How could you possibly predict who would finish fifth if you did not look at the draws each team had??
As I said though, my tipping has been woeful this year so I don't expect my prediction to come right. I just wanted some basis for making my decision, rather than just doing it blindly as others may have done.

I went through every game left to play to get a better view of things, still didn't help in fact it has always seemed hard to see Sturt making it.

Even without Sturt playing this week, I think the Double Blues may replace the Bloods in the top 5 I think...

Don't know about anyone else, but I read the entrails of a dead rooster to make my prediction on the final five make-up...

Without starting a new thread what is peoples thoughts on the rest of the top 5. Who will win the minor premiership and who is going to seal the massive top 3 birth.

Im really hoping the Dogs can finish top with all the injuries we have had and players coming in and out i think the extra weeks rest will be of big importance to the Dogs. We are a game clear plus percentage so effectively 2 games top, still have Port and South to play so alot will come down to the Dogs last 3 games Eagles, Sturt and Glenelg.

The battle for a top 3 is really tightening up Norwood play - South, North, Sturt, Glenelg and West while Eagles are left to play- Port, Glenelg, Central, North and Sturt. You would think Norwood have the slightly easier run so i think they will finish 3rd.

My final top 5 is

1. Central
2. Glenelg
3. Norwood
4. Sturt
5. Eagles

I've got Centrals, Glenelg, Norwood, Eagles, Sturt. Still really can't pick 4 & 5, would think that Eagles would make it but where and Sturt and West is still a coin toss. Going from yesterday West have a long way to go and it's questionable if they "deserve" to make the cut but if they make it then they deserve it, but can't see them doing anything in the finals.

I'm not sure why West don't necessarily 'deserve'' to make the finals?

West and Sturt have played the same number of games and West have won half a game more. Yesterday's result was our worst game for the year, against a rampant Centrals and without our 2 main key defenders.

If we don't actually make the 5, we'll deserve not to. If Sturt make it, they'll deserve to.

Until then, we're in front of Sturt and deservedly so.

Same here. Could be an interesting last round!

EAGLES:

Bye, Port (away), Glenelg (home), Central (home), North (away), Sturt (home)

NORWOOD:

South (away), North (home), Bye, Sturt (home), Glenelg (away), West (home)

My beloved Eagles could still fall out at this stage fingers crossed they don't.
While I haven't done any research and not consulting the Oracle of Delphi either. It appears that the last round of the year could be make or break for either Sturt or the Eagles.
Fortress Woodville has not been a happy hunting ground for sturt this year.May be a blockbuster game that week .

r&b, that's why I wrote what I wrote and how I wrote it. Of course they deserve to be in the finals if they make it. If they continue their current form and they make the 5 then that means Sturt haven't stood up. But I still can't see West getting past an Elimination Final.

i think its a pretty common thought amongst sanfl fans that if west finish 5th they will be just be making up the numbers where sturt are probably the only side outside the top 3 that could make the GF from 4th or 5th spot.

agree with you redandblack, the game that will decide 5th spot is when west and sturt play each other in 3 weeks.
