A couple of people have already correctly identified that it was the third quarter that won hte game for Norwood. However no one has yet mentioned how the eagles once again folded like a pack of cards when a team dropped a spare man back in defence in the third (in this case McGuiness). We looked great in the first quarter but that was only because Bassett did not employ this tactic. Once Bassett brought in the spare man we became indecisive and reverted from kicking long and strong to chipping short, wide and backwards. This is NOT the way to play footy when kicking with a 5 goal wind.

Godden has got a serious problem here and he needs to address it fast before it ruins our year. Other coaches are fast becoming aware of our weakness and are now more likely to employ such tactics. Ron Fuller was watching the match with his assistants and would no doubt be aware that we are unable to work against the loose player in defence.

I couldn't say many eagles played well today. Cicca and Powell had their worst games for the season. Probably Lewis was again our best and I thought Grieger tried hard. On the positive side it was great to see Goldsworthy being picked in hte best for the reserves. He needs a couple more games there though before reinstated back into the league. Also I note Polec was BOG. He needs to come into the side ASAP to give us some dash and pace which was sorely needed today.

well it was a complete demolition job today with the eagles for the first 15 minutes of the match & then norwood from then on & the scoreboard definately flatters the eagles, as soon as norwood tightened up the eagles struggled & for the majority of the rest of the game struggled to get it past half back.....

with norwood seemingly always slow to begin, this could cause a loss in a finals match with such a slow start

one eagles u/18s player is a very very lucky young man ;) (curly hair blonde wearing tight jeans with holes through them, wearing braces & thongs on her feet & very attractive) was very friendly & happy throughout the day & nice to have a chat too 8)

Well done to the Redlegs today, far too good for us after 1/4 time. Better players for the eags today I thought were Lewis, Jarrad & Miles. Petrenko had a shocker hardly hitting a target all day costing us dearly. Knights needed the run and will get better as each game goes by. Burton hardly seen at all, I heard he may have done an ankle.

Eagles under 18's are going from strength to strength.

Who is the coach because they just get better and better.

some real talent in that team that can front up again next year. Growden, Dunstan, Jacquier to name a few off the top of my head.

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS
NW 3-1
EG 4-4
DAWE had the ball at centre half forward , he drew the EG defender, showed him the ball, dodged past him, and then kicked a gem of a goal
It was Lindsay Headesque
This got NW to with 3 points if the Eags
DAWE is rapidly develpong into one of the best ruckman in the SANFL

NW6-2
EG 6-6
Was at the other end of the ground, it appeared like this
Phillips gathered the ball had a shot for goal that was going to bounce thru for a point
The ball bounced backwards and sideways
Was like a Warne legbreak or a Mulachuckeran Doosra
The poor EG defender had it covered
It somehow anusy boumced to Josh Donoghue who got the fluke goal
This was payback for the Scott Welsh goal v NW earlier this year !!!

GRANDSTAND
Sat there admiring 2 things today
A great exhibition of mainly man to man football
And the blonde lass with the faded jeans with holes in them
She wore an Eagles jacket
I only saw about 90 % of the game today

TOM LANGFORD
Listed as number 50 for the legs on the Bs, is that the ex WA player ?

I had the perfect vantage point to see this. (4) Craig Parry was the Eagle player - I wouldn't say he was unlucky at all because he had an opportunity before the ball bounced to punch it through for a behind.

No Mal, there are two Tom Langford's running around, one at each club.

I picked the Leggies in my tips for a change because of the 'grounded' Crow factor. These blokes (generally) are going to be either out of form, short of a run or hurt when they line up for an SANFL club and in the majority of cases the heart doesn't beat true for the jumper. Well done you Leggies that was an important win over our main top three rival.

Funny incident at the post game interviews at Norwood.
Young Georgiou whilst being interviewed as one of our best players was asked ......
" How did you feel ling up against a legend of the game in Brett Burton ? "
" Thought he looked really old actually ! "

No disrespect was intended but it was quite funny ...the innocence of youth !

Fortunately not the case for this trio, but you are correct with the rest REB.

Interestingly however it seems that the two guys coming back from long term injuries have suffered unrelated injuries, whilst the other player out of form I'm guessing has seriously injured an existing problem (see 2009 qualifying final).

Well done to Norwood in an important game. They've now set themselves up well for a top three spot - is that 9 wins from the last 10 now?
