well what an intriguing game, sturt never gave up & the bays a couple of times during the third term threatened to blow sturt out of the water yet their persistence wasn't rewarded for them in the end, i thought giles, hinge, thurstans & plant (bar for inaccuracy at goal) were good while for the winners i thought our best two were kirkby & allen & allens' tackle on hinge late in the game was the most critical moment of the entire game, sturt should be in the 5, however mentally they seem to 'rise' for the 'name teams' & take the lessor lights for granted, having said that their last 2 weeks has shown that they may well be on the way back

i thought the umpiring was shocking for both teams with very soft free kicks given.....the sturt blokes i know think they were robbed & the bay blokes i know think we got the raw end of the pineapple

A great game of footy to call in the league game, Ty Allen was sensational and has the best beard I have seen in a long time at SANFL level ;)

Yes-I thought RPH were almost indecently obsessed with Allen's beard during today's broadcast. :? He was incessantly referred to as "the bearded Allen"- as if there was some other Allen out there

Sorry topcat, I was probably the main culprit with that, it's just that is a great beard and I know Ty (well his beard anyway) has been getting a bit of publicility of late on snouts louts and localfootysa with Jai Bednall. Doesn't it have it's own Facebook appreciation page as well

Nonetheless, it was a great game by Mr Allen today, his goal deep in the Snouts Louts pocket and the tackle on John Hinge late in the game were the highlights for me, along with Roury Kirkby's dominating 3rd term and the overall game of Joffa Giles for Sturt.

Absolutely, since Sturt only beats Good Teams. And South.

(since Glenelg beat Sturt, does that mean they're cr@p?) :?

Then the Sturt blokes you know are idiots. It would have been nice to see if their mob had the mettle to level the scores from 3 goals down without benefiting from some surreal decisions. The right team won.

Good game great atmosphere, was sure it was going to be a draw in the last few minutes when both sides couldnt get the ball withing 30m of goal.

The 6 day break did slow us in the last and Sturt took advantage of it, just not quite fully.

SANFL footy lost nothing in its appeal again today

Yes it was Phil. Hopefully he will be in the State U18s team that flies out to Melbourne on Friday for their last 2 state matches against Tasmania & Vic Country, and kick this truly.

At Reserves Presentations tonight it was highlighted Glenelg had 10 players in todays Reserves team that could have still been playing U18s comp. One lad (Max Proud) got best player in yesterdays match, then fronted up again today (due to the late promotion of Kellock up to League).

Very good game of football and well-umpired too. Another tremendous performance from Jon Giles who would now be leading Sturt's B&F; hard to imagine that he wouldn't get re-drafted in November. Double Blues looking set to wreak havoc in the finals from 4th or 5th.

The way we are going, we could be the best team to finish 7th & will be spectating in September.

Yep, a few good calls on here, I really rate Sturt, hard to believe they're not in the 5.

I think they'll have a strong last 4-6 weeks and squeeze into the 5.

The people who came along today certainly got their moneys worth in both matches. Fantastic weather conditions allowed some great skills to be to be showcased, and a good spirited match worthy of finals footy.

Just read on Snouts forum that Glenelg's Reserves team's average age today was 19.5 yrs. For such a young team they showed alot of composure in a pressure cooker last 10 minutes.

The League match today just proved that ladder positions mean nothing.
Hinge kicking the 1st goal of the match in front of Snouts was certainly going to get the crowd involved, and his reaction showed he was pumped and ready to prove a point. He played well, but we won the match. So that's OK with me

Wayde Mills - played well in my opinion. Kept Chambers to 2 goals, just kept spoiling and doing his job well. Its hard to believe he is just 22. Definately looks older.
Ty Allen - Unbelievable! His hard ball gets stats are off the radar.
Ben Mules - Epitomises the definition of what you want in your Captain. Worth his weight in gold today.
Trev Cranston - Fantastic team man, never stops trying all day. A+ today.
Ruory Kirkby - plays like his life depends on taking the mark and kicking the goal A+

Anyway, this round is over, and Glenelg has 6 days to regroup before heading out to Elizabeth. Another Big challenge, another Big battle. I hope I'm smiling when the siren goes again next week. It doesn't matter if it's 6pts or 6 goals. I'll be happy with either
