who was the 'stylish' looking umpire in the halftime game ? the commentators thought he moved well, got to the correct position & only paid the blatant frees....well done to that umpire   ;)

Well done to the Legs.
Remember when Bassett said after the first game against the Bays that he was actually happy with certain aspects of their play and everyone scoffed at him? Obviously aware of something we weren't.
Looking at the scores, it would appear to have been a reasonable game of footy? Did the Eagles few behinds at the end of the third quarter cost them the game, and were they gettable?

Fifteen points flattered the eags, a great display by the Legs.

Nick Duigan did something Ive not seen b4 in Aussies Rules football
3rd QTR
Nick possesed the ball near the centre square
He sprinted
As he sprinted he held the ball in his left hand
Nick propped and touched down the footy one handed, left hand
He sprinted
Repeated the one hand left hand touch down
He sprinted
Repeated again the one hand left hand touchdown
Nick then gave the ball to Donoghue who kicked a goal

If ever this makes it on youtube or the ABC SANFL reels it is worth watching

Nick Duigan is a very under-rated footballer
If he had good hammys he just may have played AFL footy
At 25 perhaps its not too late

That play by Duigan was FREAKISH!!!

Brennan certainly does it too, but 3 bounces whilst running through the middle, setting up a goal, just doesn't happen. Couldn't believe my eyes.

Yep good call Cover King Brennan also does that onehandtouchdown thing
But Nick does it full pelt
I reckon Ive seen Brennan do it but not as quick as Nick does it
Brennan is more ''dodgingandweaving'' when he does THE BRENS

I wonder if any other SANFL player has done THE DUIGS move

Tim Weatherald has had a distinguished career
Medal
ST Premiership
First game for NW at Prospect after being released from ST when NW upset the highly rated NA team
Almost 300 games [297]
He will remember his career with a great deal of pride

But I reckon Tim will remember this game for the legs most of all
Tim got a centre bounce clearance and launched a mammoth drop punt that arguably travelled 50 metres...

Norwood were never going to lose that game and whilst the Eggs showed some glimpses of good play the score flattered them. If not for the 5 goals "given" to the Eggs by perhaps the worst umpiring exhibition of all time the score would be a blowout.
It is time that overweight incompetent Richard Williams retired he, looks so out of place among fit athletes out there.

I actually rate Williams as an umpire, but yesterday he made a couple of poor decisions. The holding the ball against Terlich in the 2nd qtr the worst. By no means was he the worst umpy out there though.

It was won by Norwood basically due to their work against the wind. Scored the same amount of goals into the wind than the Eagles did with the wind.

I too believe the scoreboard flattered the Eagles. The umps kept them in a little, the apparant non-knowledge of McGuinness about the rushed behind rule, Rowe's inaccuarcy in the last, but it was mainly Schultz keeping them in the match. Did enough to get a Power callup IMO.

Anyone else see Rimington's reported office? Gutless sniper ;)
In all seriousness though if the tribunal continues with their recent form he should get at least a game.

Looked as if that was his role in the team .. Offered very little I thought.

Was really impressed with Lewis' game for the Eagles, and as you come to expect blokes like Powell, Cica and McKenzie always put in, they are a class act that trio.

SCHULZ was almost unSTOPPable with his 5 goals
Thats the best game I have seen him play
When Salter and Grocke comeback this EG forward line will be awesome

A few posters have said that EG got some favourable umpiring decisions
The way i saw it
Both sides got some dubious frees for and against, the Eagles freebies turned into several goals, whereas the NW freebies generally didnt hurt the Eagles

Yes I agree EG were perhaps fortunate to lose by only 16 points

It was a superb game , marred only by some questionable umpiring

Jai Bednall certainly saw it mal...

Jai Bednall in his Monday Morning Centreman article wrote:I don't have a play of the day section but if I did Nick Duigan would win it hands down this week. His Koutifides-style one-hand touch down run through the middle of the ground to set up a goal for Josh Donohue against the Eagles was simply gobsmacking.
