Is there something wrong with this sentence?
How could it be yours and have a 99 year lease?

I must admit I have no clue on the deal for South to use Noarlunga.

Good to see the powder blues are getting cocky I hope the players are too. Our boys will be very confident to knock you off after round 1. Whether they can is another issue.

Some absolute crap being written on here, but it's great to see everyone so fired up! :D

Let's hope the game is played in the same manner...

I'm looking forward to it.

Agree Clarie, as far as the 99 lease goes, for all intent and purpose it gives the club ownership aleit without holding the actual title over the land. The knowledge that the club can and will retain the head lease for such a long term has by way of an example allowed the club to borrow $3.0ml in essence against the lease in order to improve the facility as completed last year.

As a Sturt supporter and having recently dined at Jimmy Deane's, I'm actually very jealous of your facilities.

The problem is the ground lacks character and atmosphere, but, I'm confident that will come over time.

I'm sure that when Unley Oval was created back in the 1890's, it lacked character and atmosphere too...

As much as the home ground has come along in recent years, there is still more that does need to be done to bring it up to give it some more atmosphere that I will concede quite readilly. Fortunatley its also good to say that the club is well aware of what needs to be done and has the capacity to complete the work as they are currently doing. Something that in the 1980's seemed very unlikely along with the actual survival of the club.

What we need is a proper Grandstand in the centre, once that project is completed I do feel the atmosphere will be on an par with any other SANFL ground.

What I feel needs to happen and albeit perhaps a contraversial move is that the ground needs to be renamed - Panther Park. The old Panther logo still sits on the rooms at St Marys, its time we went and organised to have it taken back and put up at Noarlunga, along with the old Panther Park Archway that sat at the entrance of what was to be our home ground. The club is so keen to be called the Panthers instead of South Adelaide, so it follows that Panther Park would be a logical choice of name for the ground!

Noticed this weeks newsletter there is a "Back To St Marys Era" function coming up this Sat night at the Tonsley Hotel. Maybe someone can pop over the road and grab it at the conclusion of the function.

Seriously though, I've had a couple of meals in Jimmy Deans. Great meal and facilities. i just wish they sold coke over the bar. Have been there for SFL GF's as well. There is a good atmosphere in the club rooms on these days, as there is a good crowd. I think the oval is just too big for the crowds that go to the games.

Agree with you Sojouner once (hopefully soon when finances allow) a grandstand is built in front of/on top of the changerooms on the western wing together with some concrete terracing on the eastern outer side the whole atmosphere and asthetics will be further enhanced and we will a fantastic facility given it's pretty dam good already.

Rome wasnt built in a day. Some good improvements since 94 when opened. Main entrance and Jimmy Deanes is probably the best in the comp if not close to it.
I agree with the grandstand and the concrete terracing. Certainly doesnt need a huge grandstand just enough to be closer to the action. What could be done is
once they build the grandstand and the concrete terracing is to allow cars in northern end and block off the south eastern corner and bring the scoreboard right up to the boundary. Pretty sure this would give a real good atmosphere. Patient lot us panther supporters

Either get the logo and change the name, OR, move the entire club back to St Marys and disregard the
99 year lease....

Nah bugger that... A roof over the whole stadium and then there will be no need for carports.

Anyway back on topic. Sturt should win easily.
