Reminiscent of the ANZAC day game last year, just didn't seem in it today. Well done to Sturt they were sensational and showed in their attack on the footy and the body.

No complaints here about the result if we want to leave our mates one out in a contest with no support time and time again, well if Sturt were really up and running we should have lost by 15 goals today.

Looking foward to the next 2 weeks agaisnt Centrals and North to see if we learn't any lessons from today.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I kind of felt the opposite...late in the 3rd quarter it felt like we hadn't played "6 goals better" than Glenelg, yet that was the margin.

15 goal wins are pretty rare at Unley these days I think, even when Sturt are in top notch form. Probably has to do with the length of the ground, the modern game, flooding back etc. I was pleased at how open the game was after 1/4 though, and felt that both teams had a crack*. But poor skills (incl. dropped chest marks), disposal and decision making let the Bays down time after time.

Sturt much better today. Bays had a stinker. Umps quite comical. Dog ran onto field. Happy days.

LOL, wasn't hard to tell he's a Sturt supporter.

At least it got the goal umpires excited at quarter time when they had to run over and correct the score.

At least this year I won't have to sit through another ANZAC day game. Sturt can suffer this year.

Funniest thing about the game today was that Panozzo got his first kick in the last quarter, only just beating that stray dog to the ball :D

sturt way WAY WAY too good for us today & our form as i suspected wasn't as good as it appeared on paper, norwood are no good & westies are a competitive middle of the road comp, sturt have the best list & it is taking a while for it to gel together, was good to quickly meet 'les the mechanic' & 'zip zap' today.....i would expect sturt to win next week & the bays to respond to the shalacking we had today, whether they win or not is another thing, i thought toddy grima was our only full 4 quarter player today.......as for the umpiring well today was like an afl game players from both sides gave away very soft push in the back free kicks among other soft free kicks today.....umpires just pay blatant free kicks PLEASE

Well that would be a huge improvement on the umpiring I've seen at games this year.
Hopefully it continues, I could handle seeing less than 40 frees as opposed to over 55 with well over double figures of 25 metre penalties. Bring it on!

Oh, sorry my mistake, you're talking about SANFL umpiring, not AFL umpiring.
Most AFL games have less than 20 frees per teams, that is a rarity in the SANFL.

Great to see a committed, intense Sturt team take take the field today.

I didn't expect a result like this, but it was certainly deserved. The Double Blues applied pressure, ran hard and gave 100% at every contest all day.

Some of the better players in my opinion for Sturt (not in order):

Bode, Crane, Hassan, Cubillo, Wark, McGlone, Thurstans. We really didn't have passengers today. Good to see Herring put in a good game and good to see the selectors realise that playing Bowen, Kurtze and Giles together is not wise.

Was also impressed with the endevour (if not the execution) of Pittard in the last quarter.

It was a game we needed to win and we did. Great stuff Blues.

Bays put in their worst performance for a very long time and I'd say that they'll be looking to redeem themselves next week...

I thought Sturt played a bit better than they have so far this season, but that was the worst performance I have seen from a Glenelg side in a few years. Sturts pressure was probably their biggest improvement , and Glenelg looked ordinary, very unlike them.
I would also like to know what the clearance stats were, looked like we really smashed the Bays there.

I'm sure Glenelg will bounce back, it was one of those " couldn't play that badly 2 weeks in a row games " , so next weeks s game between the Bays & Bulldogs should be great.

I agree about the soft frees that Bayman alluded to, there was a couple paid each way when players just outbodied their opponent & were paid for " in he back " ( no hands involved ).
Nice to meet you by the way Bayman.
I also agree that going back to 2 ruckmen helped us out.
On the downside, we still missed a few easy goals as we did against North, some with very little pressure & from not far out.
