I'd guess very few of us picked the top 5 last year.

Or the year before.

Or the year before.

Or the .........

Sorry Westies fans I'd love to see you make the five but I think you will just miss out again. :(

I've got to say it appears there are a few Bloods supporters on here that haven't heard of the term regarding crawling before you can walk.....

How is a side that hasn't played in the finals for five years and has been average at best in the last two years suddenly going to sweep all before them and finish in the top three in 2010? Seriously lads, it just doesn't work that way.

Andy Collins would be aiming to take his side a step further in the process he and the club set out two seasons ago, of that I am certain. He will want the club to play hard, competitive footy, eliminate the blow out losses, and hopefully come September be pushing hard for a spot in the five.

Anyone who believes they will make the three on a whim just isn't being realistic. The likes of Sturt (late 90s/early 00s) built up to being a consistent major round participant and even the mighty Central District had to endure some heartache in the mid to late 90s before cementing their place at the top table.

Lets be realistic Westies fans. If your side does stun all and sundry and spring a top three berth this year then fair play to them, but I don't see it. Sorry.

Patience is a virtue.

If 3 other sides pull out of the competition before the season starts then West might make the top 5

Went and watched about an hour of the Westies internal trial this morning before going down to Noarlunga...

Was very impressed with the way they moved the ball from half back and particularly impressed with Scott Bricknell, Fort Caruso, Ryan Willits, Bronik Davies and James Ezard, in what I saw.

I know it is early, but I think the Bloods can sneak into the 5 this year but not sure that will do much damage or go any further than that....

In 1983 we went from 6th to 1st, having played one finals game in the previous five years. And we'd finished last or second last in three of those five years. It can work that way.
