We know the wheel turns the club lived it for the first 35 years. My point is the statement that Central are only great is because they are rich and can recruit all the best interstate recruits is very innacurate and no where near being a true reflection of why the club has come to be so successful.

I think Baysman was talking about the topic which was brought up by Dogger. Not your response to LEH's post.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

I reckon the introduction of reasonable 'minimum match payment' would help. Too much talent is lost to the local leagues.

I mean if you are a fringe player, why bother? Especially if you'd been trying for a couple of years to crack it.

Club commitments 5-6 times a week for the possibility 2 or 3 league games and all for $120 - $200 a week (just a stab, not exactly sure of the figures). All that while some of your team mates are raking in the dosh.

Compare that to a gig at a rural club, could command $400 - $500 a match, for max 2 trainings and a game each week = fun + easy money.

The focus shouldn't be on attracting the big names to the comp, but improving the overall standard at the bottom end. I've seen lots of blokes kicking about in regional leagues that could easily still hold down a place at an SANFL club.
