dogs01 wrote:Why couldnt you merge central and the western buldogs and have them playing from adelaide oval.
Both clubs are becoming sucesfull on and off the field.
The old footscray helped the dogs get started and niether side would have to change their name, they could just be called the bulldogs.
Just a thought.

When did the Western Bulldogs last win a flag or even be in the GF? Well before my time.

Got a long way to go before you're more successful than Norwood

In saying that IMHO there will never be another South Australian based side in the AFL.

Sorry Norwood in premiership every 4.8 years and Centrals every 5.8 years
Mind you if you want to go on GF wins you are in front Norwood have only won a GF every 6.5 years since we started having them in 1898
And before you reply yes I know Glenelg's record a GF win/Premiership every 22.3 years

What about since both teams have been playing in the same comp. i.e since 1964.
Then it would be 5 Norwood Central 8 (we won't mention Glenelg)

I agree with your last line. Not in our lifetimes at least. The AFL have sign-posted a 3rd WA team and a team in Tasmania as the 19th and 20th AFL teams. But that would have to be 10 years away at best.
If there was to be a 3rd team out of SA then I agree that the CDFC would be a prime candidate. However, I don't think the AFL would let the SANFL get away with having their cake and eating it too a second time. ie, it would be CDFC OUT of SANFL, IN to AFL. How would you feel about that out of curiosity? It would test the SANFL v AFL allegiances of a lot of CDFC people?
That's unless there's a relocation of a Melbourne based team and a merger as was suggested by dogs01. Then you could probably keep a CDFC in the SANFL.
It's all hypothetical though.
