But all you would need is Round 1 or 2 next year to be a carbon copy of Round 1 1999 and that would put a big dampener of crowds!

why wont our council (holdfast) & (pardon the pun) see the light & fork up with some cash for the bay oval ?.....they forked out the cash for the brighton rugby union club to have night games or was that because a few rugby people work there......well done to the west torrens council & westies for getting the lights up & going (soon)
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Drifting off into fantasy land here, this is how it should be by rounds IMO:

Rd 1: Norwood, Richmond
Rd 2: Elizabeth, Richmond
Rd 3: Norwood, Elizabeth
Rd 4: Adelaide - perhaps another clash between Sturt and Glenelg like this year?
Rd 5: Richmond
Rd 6: Norwood
Rd 7: Elizabeth
Rd 9: Richmond
Rd 10: Norwood
Rd 12: Adelaide
Rd 14: Elizabeth
Rd 16: Norwood
Rd 18: Richmond
Rd 20: Elizabeth
Rd 21: Norwood
Rd 22: Richmond
Rd 23: Adelaide
That is, six out of the 10 home matches are night games.

Of course, you can have quite a few more night matches with Adelaide Oval once it is right.

Great to hear, so they will be ready for next season?

Richmond is a great spot for footy, would love to see a big crowd packed in there one day would be a super atmosphere

Why not play some neutral games there also on a Friday ngiht? Much prefer that than Adelaide Oval while the renos are happening...

Great news. And totally agree that a Friday night match every round would be great. Love to have more clubs with lights too - but as we know bloody hard with councils that give no support to clubs that have been servicing and promoting their communities for 100 years! I am sure West attendances will surge because of this. Central, the Bay and Unley would be brilliant too for crowds and after match kick-ons.

Just another reason why the SANFL if it plays its cards right - can continue crowd increases and snare footy lovers disillusioned with the boring, sterility of the AFL.

Surely Norwood Oval is the place to do that?

Good to see a council support a club in getting lights for night games.

The more night games the better IMO
They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10

Great job to the club for making this happen, should be a real winner. Good example of the council and club working together on something logical. Plenty of ofther SANFL clubs would be jealous of that relationship!!

One would have to think the Rex and the Hilton Hotel would be jam packed along with other local businesses on the night, so its little wonder the local council is supportive of it.
This is exactly why the residents of some of the more pleasant suburbs might not want it to happen near them..
