It's way too early to say who will play the GF. Who knows Central might not make it.

I heard a rumour that the Bays trained on Monday. If this is true that's the dumbest thing I have ever heard and they won't be a force next year.

The last team to beat us was Norwood so its not such a silly thing to say that will be there. Norwood and West will be the big improvers. The Mighty Tigers will be renamed to the Mighty Ducks in recognition of their ducking and diving abilities.

Oh really? Except many of us have been around since we couldn't win a final to save our lives. We have hung on through the bad and are enjoying the good. I don't think we will all jump off at the first sign of trouble. And save your tired stereotypes for another audience. Have heard it all so many times and is so off the mark for me and my mates it just makes you look silly.

Mate, you obviously haven't being reading these threads to know whom the "few" supporters Centurion is probably referring to are. But I guess you're one to add to the list.

WHy is that the dumbest thing you have ever heard? Why would that effect their efforts in 2010?

The suggestion a training session a few days after a prelim finals loss would effect Glenelg's quest in 2010.. is actually the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

With a reserves side and U/19 side in the finals the club certainly wasn't in "shut down" mode.

Yep the Bays trained last Monday the reserves and U/18s. Yes the League team was there for their usual Monday night game review.

Make of that what you will. Roll on 2010.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

It's the dumbest thing that I have ever heard because it is messing with the player's heads. Any player that makes it at SANFL level has reasonable skills or they wouldn't be there. What makes the difference - and this year surely must underline this with so many finals games going down to the wire- is mental confidence and toughness. The day after the bays season went down the tube (after 2 close losses) I doubt the players are in the frame of mind to receive a confidence boost. Greiving takes time. That's why its the dumbest thing I have heard in sport.

Its not the dumbest thing I have heard.... and I am quite confident the coaching staff at Glenelg know the reasoning behind everything they do... and thankfully you'll be glad to hear.. it didnt happen.

I firmly believe its best to get rid of some demons straight away so I wouldve been happy for Grima, Rooey and the lads to get some frustration in a positive way out of their system. WHy stew and dwell on something for 2 months?
With the whole club still very involved in GF week I actually would have been disgusted if they'd got on the piss Monday. Instead they had their review... have set down their intentions for 2010... and now have to set about rectifying the finals efforts.

There are way worse ways to mess with a players head... and I'd suggest Mark Mickan is one person adept at keeping a players head straight. Do you not think their heads were being messed with sitting watching the club be represented by the 18's and Reserves... knowing they, the senior side had let the club down?

Ahhhh, so true. During the last minor round game at the parade, one of the 'legs brainstrust stated that he couldn't see the Dogs going far in the finals this year. I couldn't say anything at the time, but would truly love to meet him now! I'm sure he probably still beilieves that Norwood is a better team because of that game.
