The other thing that concerns me is we might take our eyes of this week to hell bent on getting back at the Dogs

Big danger of that happening

=)) What?! You're saying that we haven't been there too recently??

Judging the by intensity and skill level of the 2 games played yesterday - Glenelg, and by plenty I fear.

Depends on how we come back after yesterday both teams had a good hitout so they will be ready to go.

Dont buy into the theory that they are due to win cause we are more than due to beat the Dogs, dont work like that if we are as good as we are led to believe then you would think we will bounce back. However there is a mental aspect to us now and i would say that is shattered.

Good luck to the Sturt supporters this week
I disagree, If Sturt can get over Glenelg this week I give us a real chance against the Dogs, we seem to play them a bit better than Glenelg.

Although all we are doing is playing for a chance to go on and hope Centrals lose the GF cause neither side playing on Sunday can win the GF.

What a stuffed up quote that was

After being at training tonight - no chance of that happening
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

The immediate feeling after yesterday's two point loss to Central at AAMI Stadium was one of immense disappointment. The most significant factor in responding to the game in a positive way will be the players' reaction. Resilience is this group's best quality. They have shown this on numerous previous occasions and they have responded very well indeed. It is all about how we handle it mentally, physically and emotionally. The leadership from within the whole playing group will emerge. They will want to learn from yesterday and they will want to move on. They will be ready when Sunday comes. Nothing, however guarantees success. Football is a verb, a doing word, and we have to do it.

The verb "To Football"

I football, you football, we football etc.

I thought Mickan was a school teacher.

Of course it's a verb.

For example:

"Lucy footballs Charlie Brown."

"Charlie Brown just got footballed by Lucy."

Chambers is a definite starter this week. Nowhere near right with his injury, but the Bays will still have to play their best defender on him.

I believe Sturt are due to win one against the Bays. The Bays lack some real firepower up front, and a couple of their forwards who can kick a bag, seem to go missing when the pressure is applied. Even if Chambers doesn't kick a few this week, Sturt have others up front who can kick them. Both midfields break even IMO. Defence same.

I will be putting my money where my mouth is, as Sturt should start at attractive odds, (market anyone?).

I await the rampant Bay posters telling me how wrong I am.

Could be right on the money there, it will be a case of now or never for Chambers.

This is an interesting game in many respects, but I don't think anyone should be thinking that either Sturt or Glenelg are weak minded sides who deserve scorn. The effort put in by Sturt in this seasons QF was even better than last season, where as we were overrun in the last quarter last year, this year we fought it out until the dying minutes.

For Glenelg, a similar story. Last year Glenelg put its cheerleaders on first and were promptly man handled by Centrals in the semi-final. This year, Glenelg should have won, they fought it out until the end and were just beaten by a more determined team in the last term. Overall, again, it was a much better performance than last year.

My expectation is that Glenelg will be fired up for this game and I for one can't look past the Tigers taking the biscuits by 4-5 goals. The key for Sturt in some ways is not having Chambers, if he plays we may revert to our orthodox style of playing and thus play into their hands, whereas if we keep Coady up forward, that could throw things.

Whoever wins, I think will be more than capable of beating the Dogs. Anyone who thinks its a foregone conclusion (apart from Dogs fans) is a bit of a loser. You need to have more faith in your side and I think Glenelg on song can easily beat the Dogs and Sturt on song are also quite capable of knocking them over as well.

Lets remember, Torrens came back from a 6 goal beating at the hands of the Dogs to win it in 2006 and Sturt came back from 4 consecutive losses that year to the Dogs to win it in 2002.

It is possible and I don't think THAT unlikely.

So for me, a tough game between these two sides, with Glenelg getting the ascendancy mid-game and going on to a comfortable 21-30 win.
