Not to bright I guess considering there would then be a hell of alot more people to injure  .

Should've told them it was a Crows CS practice run.

I was told the lid on the drink rule relates to Liquor Licensing... not sure how true this is though.

Weslo enjoyed being bullies though to a new breed of person- the educated football supporter.

Weslo staff = Weekend Heroes. Bored with their mundane weekday jobs (screwing lids on toothpaste tubes or other such intellectually rewarding labour), nagged and bullied at home by their fishwife spouses, their weekend job gives them a false illusion of importance. For three hours on a Sunday arvo they get to parade their bravado in front of harmless footy fans, giving their lives an otherwise lacking sense of meaning. Never mind that they are totally ineffectual (both in legality and ability) when it comes to dealing with the troublemakers. The bottom line, underneath their illision of power, is that they are paid only to wear a shirt and strike macho poses. Nothing more.

You've nailed it, I think.

But in the town it was well known
When they got home at night their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives..

You now its rather odd
I go to the footy watch the footy, have the occasional beer, have the occasional BBQ feed there
I support my team
If its not my team playing , I get entertained
And rather surprisingly in 40 odd years of going to these footy games, Ive never ever had a problem with security
But then again I abide by staduim rules most of the time, and never get totally inebriated or whatever

Over the last 40 years Ive also frequented the race tracks , cricket games , and occasionally a variety of other sporting events

Ive got to know some of the security guys on a first name basis as they are at these sporting venues I frequent

You know, just once in my lifetime, I might go and get drunk, start abusing players or even oppostion spectators, might yell some obscene profanities at whoever, and then get evicted or arrested just to see what its like.

Point being if you abide by the rules of the staduim, you wont get security interfering with your day out.

Why is always assumed you are being a heinous tool? Let me explain further.

Haven't been to AAMI in over 18 months, since the beer in your seat invention was introduced.

But firstly a bunch of us (about 10) enter the stadium on the eastern side, with the Eagles/North game in progress.

Wondering where to go, do we sit or stand and where is the best available spot.
All that takes a few minutes when you're not familiar with the lay of the land.
However, in a minute and a half we were told to move on... "can't stand here, have to stand 2 feet over there in the yellow box". Ok, we are no trouble we move.

Next we get 3 beers and bring them back. ...No you can't stand here with the beers, they don't have a lid. Getting a little frustrated now. Not much assistance or explanation going on. OK we can sit down with our beers without the lid...(not my preference, but I will comply). Not that 3 beers in the stadium = inebriation.

And then after a decision that I wasn't happy with, I uttered a bad word that all the other blokes around me yelling must have had a problem with I guess. Nothing that has been a problem over the previous 22 rounds, however.

So the Indian Weslo gentleman, asks me very politely not to do it again. Ok no problem. Stifled a bit of pent up frustration in the last 5 minutes of the game I gotta tell you.

So all in all, it was a very unnatural environment that wasn't high on my list of memorable footy experiences and very different to suburban ground freedoms.

Although the Doggy cheer squad flare was very colourful.
Wonder if the Weslo boys thought so too.

This AFL inspired way of watching footy must appeal to some, probably a lot judging by the crowds, but alas, not me.

Bring back finals at Adelaide asap please.

Thats all very sensible and mature of you mal but the problem seems to be they want to enforce non-existent "rules" and worse still is if their presence is actually required usually the response is slow and ineffectual.

Mal as someone who hasn't been to as many games as yourself only since1975.And as someone who grew up around dog racing circles or greyhound tracks .
I never have had a problem with security. Of course if I want to take a soft drink into footy park or Adelaide oval then I must get creative ;) .
I have only ever gotten their interest when I asked rather impatiently why a gate wasn't open at Adelaide oval once
As someone who doesn't drink and I try like hell not to swear at the footy and my god that's hard some days .I think I'm pretty safe .

But as an observer of others people might get surprised at who actually does or should get into trouble .And the bad language isn't all ways from the male of our species either ;)

The rules at AAMI stadium are why I stopped going to see the AFL.

Mal, you're right - follow the rules and you'll be fine. But that's what a lot of organisations all over the world have said when they've introduced laws/rules that go against the grain. And the atmosphere created at AAMI certainly goes against the grain of the way I like to attend the footy.

After a few years of not going to the football, my boy asked to go, so I started turning up at the Bays games. What a breath of fresh air! A reasonable level of security, a family friendly atmosphere, access to the ground, the ability to stand on a patch of grass, drink a beer and watch the footy ALL AT THE SAME TIME! Bliss!

I am not a reckless football hooligan. I have four to five beers during your average game. I have a bit of a yell now and then, and I even swear once in a while if I get frustrated at the way the game's going. I am made to feel uncomfortable every time I turn up at Footy Park, and only go there when I have to (ie SANFL finals). I'm sure plenty of others feel a similar way, and it's all to do with the environment created by draconian rulemongers.

Weslo wallys in fine form again on Sunday, after the final siren i proceded to jump and down a couple of times, i was behind the goals where it was packed, i think my feet were about 2.5cm outside the yellow box to which weslo grabbed me and pointed me out to the police to take me away,

The police (politely and gently) without touching me walked me to their office inside the ground, i was taken into a room to which a policeman higher up (whether it was a constable or sergant im not sure), asked why i had been brought here, i was extremely polite the whole time and showed no anger, and i replied "i may have stepped a tad outside the box", he replied along the lines of "don't lie to me mate, everyone who comes in here thinks they did nothing wrong, your only going to make it worse" i replied with "no offense but if you check the footage i think you will find i don't belong here.", at that time the two officers who escorted me to the room were reviewing the footage, they came back in the room and said "we agree he hardly deserves to be here but you may want to check the footage yourself," the higher up officer then came back 5 minutes later and agreed, he then continued to apoligise and said they will speak to Weslo in question and they felt we were all embarrased and it had been a waste of their time.

So i left the room without any ban or any paperwork, and must say all three policeman involved were very professional and did their job extremely well. I still can't belive i maintained my cool throughout the situation but i think that was the key to the resolving this issue quick and easily.

WELL DONE WESLO WALLY
