seems these days that age is less of a factor in retirement from SANFL, more the ability of bodies to handle the demands that are required and to a lesser extent the demands of training and recovery vs work and family life.
Trust the process.

I think I read somewhere that it is Ben Nelson but could be wrong. Its either him, Slade or the Gowans twins.

From Eagles website;

The Woodville West Torrens Football Club would like to confirm that the 2009 Season will be the last for Ken Farmer Medallist and Premiership player Mark Passador in the Eagles colours.

Passador, who came to the Club in 2003 from Hawthorn VFL affiliate Club Box Hill, will return to Victoria at the conclusion of this season.

Passador said “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Eagles. After initially coming to SA with the intention of staying for two years, to be here seven years is testament to what a fantastic Club this is."

“I will miss everyone involved in the Club, from the backroom staff through to our members and supporters, all of whom have provided me with considerable support from the moment I arrived.”

“Last but certainly not least, I will miss the camaraderie from the playing group, many of which have become lifelong friends”. “Having said all of this, our attention must be on the upcoming Finals series, of which I believe we can figure prominently in”.

On Passador, Woodville West Torrens Football Club Coach Ron Fuller said “the Woodville West Torrens Football Club can be proud of the performances over the seven seasons that he has been with the Club. He will be a hard man to replace”.

Fuller added “Any player that comes into our Club, plays one hundred games, wins a Premiership and a significant award such as the Ken Farmer medal can be extremely proud of his own career as well. All Clubs need to look to acquire players with the character and talent of Mark and we can be thankful that he has played for us”.

The WWTFC wishes Mark and his fiancée Liz all the best for the future.

Cpngratulations on a great career Pass, very likeable character and leaves the SANFL at season's end with a pretty handy record...

Is a great bloke to have a chat to as well, was more than happy to sign me as a member when I lost a bet with PhilH earlier in the year...

Interesting to hear that Toby Thurstans has announced his retirement from the Power this afternoon...

Will he stick around in SA and play for Sturt, go back home to Victoria or do a Cain Ackland and go with the highest bidder at another SANFL club ?

DECORATED Woodville-West Torrens forward Mark Passador has announced he will be retiring from SANFL football at the end of the season.

A Ken Farmer Medallist and premiership player in 2006, Passador will also be leaving his job as the Eagles marketing manager and will return to Victoria.

``I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Eagles. After initially coming to SA with the intention of staying for two years, to be here seven years is testament to what a fantastic Club this is,’’ he said.

Passador has struggled with hamstring injuries this season but has forced his way back in to Ron Fuller’s side on the eve of finals.

Fuller said Passador would be ``a hard man to replace’’.

``Any player that comes into our Club, plays one hundred games, wins a Premiership and a significant award such as the Ken Farmer medal can be extremely proud of his own career,’’ he said.

My $0.02 worth and with the greatest respect, I reckon IF the Dogs win the majority of those blokes will retire, if the Dogs don't win the flag I reckon the majority will go round again.... Don't think it is they way they'd like to end their careers with a loss knowing their pride
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Tend to agree with you there on Schell, Switala, Slade and possibly Sibanlear in terms of retiring if the Dogs win the flag again, but I'll think you'll find Cochrane, Callinan and both Gowans boys will play on again in 2010 regardless of how the season finishes up.

Especially if the dogs lose to the Bays in the GF - traditionally losing to the bays in GF's is North's forte so Centrals will really feel like sh*t and have their pride hurt and will want to no doubt rectify that! ;)

Piasente has signed on for another two years so he will be hanging around.

Others to sign on according to the press release by the club today are

Ryan Ferguson has signed on to the end of 2012 which is great to see :D
James Ezard has also signed a long term deal and David Piasente has signed a 2 year deal.

Ryan Bennett has committed to the next two years at Westies however, he is fulfilling his commitment to Renmark in their quest for a premiership in the centenary season.

Others to sign on recently for the bloods are Ryan Anderson, Logan Hill, Kurt Thompson, Daniel Caire and Scott Bricknell.

Great to see these young guys commit to the club for the future.
