I voted Woodville as you don`t have to hire a cab to get to a toilet in the outer like you do a Thebarton.

Are WWT and Thebarton over? Will there ever be another WWT home game at Thebarton?

Thebby by miles . I agree with Centurion ,Woodville just has no atmosphere and doesn't feel like a footy ground.

As for Unley , expect some news soon on the venue and Sturts future there .

Thebby for me - always. Woodville Oval is okay but Thebby is where the serious history is I think. Rode my bike there week in week out as a Findon kid growing up.

It's an old argument I know, but Thebby is a great location, fantastic surface and good place to play and watch footy...

BUT...

The facilities are terrible and would need a pretty significant upgarde to get it up to standard IMHO.

I don't have an issue with Woodville, I think it is fine.

Thebarton wins hands down and attracts bigger crowds than Woodville.

CENTURION wrote:for some strange reason, when you go to Thebarton Oval, you feel like you are going to watch a real game of footy, the atmosphere at Woodville seems strange, almost sterile, not rabid enough maybe. Maybe it's the doughnuts, I dunno. I used to **** myself when I was a teen at Thebby Oval, it was the skinhead pommies from Elizabeth going to clash with the wogs from Torrens, either greek or italian, mainly greek I think (even better at Richmond, with the croydon boys), whereas Woodville Oval has a park-like feel to it, maybe it's all the old people.

Haha! great post!
I reckon it was the Richmond Rockers (at west) back then. Pretty sure they were the older wogs from around Richmond/Plympton/Mile end. I was a bit young at the time, but knew who to look out for.
And agree that the atmosphere at Woodville seems a bit sterile.

Best memory from Thebby is a night series played there in early 80s. I reckon Torrens even won it.
Easier to flog footys and could get there & back on my pushy as opposed to Norwood.
Yeah, Naah,..... Bollocks!

Both very average these days. At least the Thebby has a pub near it. Although leaving the ground to go for a slash is a bit ordinary. I do like the barbed wire at Woodville though.

Thebby for sure, i've always looked upon the merged entity as being West Torrens (great old club) re-badged. Hardly ever go to Woodville for that reason, however play at the pug-hole, happy days.

Thebarton is a fantastic ground to watch footy at. Would love the Eagles to play one match a year there (3 was probably a bit too much). It has that traditional feel that you get when you go to grounds such as the Parade and Prospect.

Woodville is the home of the Eagles now. The club rooms are excellent and the grass mounds suit the family friendly aura of the modern SANFL. It is a pity there is not more room for people on the western wing - the majority situate themselves down the northern end.

Not sure what the plans are for the future regarding the Eagles playing at Thebarton Oval, especially now there is a sponsor for Woodville. At least the Amateurs are using the oval. It is too good and has too much history to go to waste.

Stay tuned Bluedemon. Sturt finally have a very supportive council and things will move positively with a few issues in the near future.

When was the last time WWT played at Thebby. The SAAFL are doing a good job with the ground and it is great to play on. Facilities are better than some of the current SANFL venues

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

Yeah, you reakon?

What ground(s) for examples?

I was at Thebby late last year for some SAAFL finals and I thought pretty much all the facilities weren't too good at all.
