I pretty much feel the same way, to see the club where it currently sits is nothing short of absolutely disgusting, the sheer gulf that exists between us and the other sides outside of the five is overwhelming at present. I remember being at high school in the late 1980's where the club won all of one match in 88 and thought that we would eventually make some headway, to see us back and actually in a worse condition this time around is just disgraceful. I feel that the writing was on the wall when the side was clapped off the ground after losing to the Sturt football club earlier this year. The losing culture of the club has killed it once and for all one might think, I cant see the club coming back in a few years nor at any time into the future. Clearly what we have done hasnt worked. Perhaps its time to let it go and let the club fold with some measure of dignity of having had a proud history at one time, won 11 flags and given the football public some great moments in history past. To be blunt, my experience was that a lot more people in the immediate vicinity of the club identify with Glenelg as their side anyway, so there is little point flogging a dead horse and maybe its just time to accept the inevitable anyway....

Sorjourner, they got clapped by a small group of supporters in front of me today after the game.

I thought the same, we are the only club that accepts mediocrity.

It will be laughable what they write up......Doug Robertson , please tell us as it is!!!

I think it's a bit of a shame that only one goal was scored by West in the last. They were easily on track for the highest score of the year (only 149 points).

It was the first time that West have kicked 100 points since Round 19 2007. And it was the highest score since Round 21 2006.

I think it was more that south were rewarded with some very questionable free kicks in the last quarter that wouldn't have been paid had the scores been closer

Would you be clapping with a performance like that???

Seriously, the "panic" button must be pushed now.

That would have to be one of the most woeful performances I have ever witnessed by a SAFC team in the many years I have supported them. I supported them through the dark days of 1988/89 but at least back then the players put in for the jumper.
The players are not all at fault. The coach, FOC, Board need to be acountable for today's performance. They seemed stunned for answers as when the hard questions are asked you get the usual spin answer.
The "United" and "Can do" stuff and changing the name to "PANTHERS" can go out the window IMO....its all a bit of smoke and mirrors stunt to shield what problems the SAFC is faced for the future.
The club needs a coach that can stamp out the losing, she'll be right culture running though the club. Clay is like a fish out of water. The board needs to get their head out the sand and forget about just recruiting local players (who would want to play for South with a performance like that!!??)
Maybe from the President down....their positions need to be looked at. Sturt did it back in the 1990's when Matt Benson came in , got Phil Carman to clean out the club and change the culture.

It is bloody heartbreaking watching a proud club "Self Destructing" right in front of your eyes. The supporters are promised continued improvement every year .....we have gone backwards by a mile.

Watching today, I thought Morphett Vale in the SFL could have knocked us off today.

What an utter disgrace this performance was. The amount of disinterested players out there today was embarrassing. The club gained no respect in the SANFL community today and should be shamed by that performance.

So from the sounds of things South were a little ordinary today...

We all know that umps like to even the ledger a little in the final quarter. I'd love to know the free kick count to half time  Admittedly we were undisciplined at times, but some of other frees were as perplexing as usual.

It's 4 spoons in a row.Collins has instilled a toughness into this West side. They are an even group but i must say that Ryan Bennett has proved a lot of people wrong. This team will get better. The top 5 they will not make but by heck wait till next season.Collins is a damn good coach. Im amazed how he's not COACHING in the AFL.Has more credentials than Nathan Buckley.

I'll be putting up a match report sometime today, but saintal is right about the umpiring. After years of seeing West on the wrong side of the free kick ledger, they had a 12-4 count in the first quarter, mainly by being first to the ball, but I thought we scored one goal from a very good tackle that was called 'in the back'.

It went the other way in the last quarter, where the umpires seemed to lose the plot.

The other standout, applauded by supporters of both sides, was another amazingly courageous mark by Ryan Ferguson, nearly rivalling his effort against Centrals last year. I'd be interested in saintal's thoughts on that.

It's not long ago that West were being kicked off the ground by South, so things can change. South do need major changes, though. I thought some of their players were well short of the intensity needed, so I agree with the South supporters' reactions.
