The dogs play like the last, they lose. Simple as that.
dogs, would the strong breeze have been an influence in that though ?

I don't subscribe to the playing for top spot or premiership favourite mentality so in my mind those issues are irrelevant.
For one, call me dumb and stupid (yes, open invitation), but I'd rather come through qualifying final with a win going into the 2nd-semi ... so to me top spot is a false economy. The treasure is the coverted double chance.
Also, what does the term premiership favourite mean? ... well, actually nothing, because its a term that people have made up to make them feel good about their team. Even when you are contemplating who will win on the eve of a GF, there is no such thing as a premiership favourite, let alone sometime much earlier in the season when you don't even know who will playing in the game.
So, after all that, what does this game mean to both teams ... not a hell of a lot in the big scheme of things, but more so for the Bays than the Doggies I feel. The Bays will want to have a win to restore some confidence as the the last 4 outings against the Doggies have been dismal. It also allows both teams to refine their gameplan to assist in the leadup to the finals, where you would expect these teams to meet somewhere in the series.
A hard one to pick though ... something for later in the week.

Yeah well we're playing rubbish footy so probably won't get within 13 goals...![]()
Seriously this game will be but a battle as part of war that potentially has another two battles after this one to fight out, so despite the outcome no team will come out with a definative advantage come 4:30 pm next Saturday - well certainly not us anyway, IMO.
Should be a beauty despite both teams upping their mid-week preparations for finals.
From a Glenelg perspective looking for some improvement with our forward entries and finishing in front of goals. if we do that we might be in a chance. Hopefully our midfield can show the same intensity agaisnt Sturt, West and Port agaisnt the likes of Thomas, Dutchke and the Gowans the benchmark of the competition in midfield workrate.

I'm afraid the centre square will be a bog.

To be fair though the rest of the oval was in good nick yesterday ...

4. Will the Gowans go out and do the " knuckler " routine, forcing the Bays to become rattled.
5. Will the crowd exceed 8000 ?

1. Yes. Can't get any worse.
2. No. I know plenty of money has been put on Centrals to win the flag this year (way too short for my liking), the Dogs are massively overrated this year. With the exception of the Anzac Day match and the odd quarter here and there, Centrals hasn't gotten outta first gear at all this year. Glenelg easily by 4-6 goals. (I'm willing to put money on it.)
3. Yes.
4. I hope so.
5. Depends. Glenelg has the 2nd biggest bandwagon in the league (after attending the 2002 G.F. Sturt is definitely 1st...), If they aren't on the bandwagon now next week they will be...

Considering a fair percentage of Central Districts' supporter base weren't aware the SANFL even existed before 1995, that's a pretty silly thing to say buddy. (apologies to the likes of BP, Centurion and co who have obviously followed the Dogs for many a year).
Should be a cracking game. I think Bayman suggested earlier if the weather is good this game could match the attendance of the Bays v Sturt encounter in 08....I can't see that happening but I would think 6,000+ would be a pretty good turnout.

And I think that you are guessing. I have been following the doggies since the early 70s. Can still vividly remember their first finals win in 72 against Sturtand know lots of people who are the same. We may be doing OK at the moment but us long suffering fans had to attend something like 16 finals losses in a row and I think that I was at nearly all of them
