Interesting free-flowing game to watch; riddled with some horrid errors - I think we gave Norwood three or four goals in the first half, and burned two simple ones to end the second and third quarters.

Laird made some good comments at presentations, and was pleased with the resolve - esp. being 6 goals down to overrun the Legs, and have all the run in the legs (pardon the pun) at the end.

I thought Sully was terrific, didn't feature in awards at all. Thomas and Williams best two, Slade was Lairds best.

Hayes ate Walker in the second half - but lets face it, we made less errors near him in the second half, and shut down the fluency of supply. Norwood were too Walker centric. He's got good hands though, and I doubt you can compare his effort in the two halves, as the delivery was dramatically different.

Were some good signs in the way we found confidence as the game went on, I expect a pretty big effort out of next week at Richmond.

ST...

P.S. Would be nice to see Lawry and Matt Westhoff lift their work rate on second efforts...

Yeah so I'd suggest the Hayes ate Walker in the second half comment was a bit ridiculous.

seems to be the story most weeks, they are not far away but again watch the knives come out for Trevor Hill, hell he must be doing something right to get the side into winning positions, but they continually fall over at the post. Huge game for the Legs next week, lose that and i think they can kiss 2009 away

agreed think they should start planning to make a challenge next season or cause some upsets for the teams in the five or trying to make it.

I reckon Lairdy must love mid-season games against Norwood, we usually run the Dogs back into form

Did you go yesterday, CP?
I was disappointed with the crowd, thought we'd push 4,000 given no real AFL contest at the same time, and no other SANFL game played in Adelaide.

Thanks for clarifying that Centurion. I suppose we had better shut down this site then - just post the scores every week

Was at the game, and in the first half Norwoods workrate and system was way better than Centrals.
In the second half Central really lifted and started hitting bodies harder and that seemed to throw the balance in their favour.
Actually enjoyed the day, watching Norwod they were sensational in all aspects in the first half and definately look to have talent,I have read a lot about them on here, and witnessed them twice this season,to me they look a dangerous side, hard to believe they are sitting on the ladder where they are.
Was chuffed to see Centrals fight back and get away with the win, bloody hard fought .
Cheers 8)

I wonder how many other teams might have successfully fought back from such a deficit.

(edit) didn't West pip Norwood at Richmond after a similar deficit?

A bit of a contradiction. I didn't really think Hayes did that much to stop Walker much more to do with the supply. As for the first half it doesn't really matter when you kick them (unless its junk time), six goals is a big day out and he proved he should never have been dropped. Shame we can't have him all the time.

Spot on. I was listening to the quarter by quarter updates. You just knew that Centrals were going to get up. It was just a question of which stage of the game they were going to do it.
If Norwood held them off for a full 4 quarters, even after being up by 6 goals, I would have been genuinely surprised.

Same way Sturt coughed up a similar lead to Central in the finals last year.

Dropped the intencity once we had a 6 goal lead and never got it back. That and Central decided to start playing.

And if someone like Sturt, Glenelg or North Adelaide would stand up in a final and play Central hard (like they do against us) and stop being so timid against them, I would also be very surprised.

I managed to watch a bit of this game on Saturday.

At one point in the last quarter, I think it was, the Dogs were pfaffing around in the back half with a series of handballs.
I heard over the tv "kick the **** thing!"

My grandmother dropped her plate of food when she heard that!
