The 2006 drubbing was a cracker from my point of view…still the only win against the dogs I’ve seen live at the ground. S. Dew played for the dogs that day and had little impact.

Should have won the 2007 game down there too..but couldn’t hurt the dogs on the scoreboard.

how does Dunne keep getting picked with premiership players like Switala Cochrane Goodrem and Slattery playing reserves ???

Last weekend against the eagles we were pretty good.
Sure it sounds weird considering we lost, but we at least moved the ball quite well at times.
Coming up against a tougher opponent on sunday but the key is we are not playing at the dreaded home of the bulldogs!
I think we can be competetive if we can be a bit more solid in the midfield.
Dogs will win but forget about a flogging! Mark my words!

Agree about Dunny UK Fan but think Cochrane, Goodrem and Slattery need at least another week in the 2's having not played any footy for the Dogs at all this year prior to last week. I think Switala deserves to come back into the league side but then with blokes consistantly performing in the reserves like Nason, Porter, Barmby, Habel, Brading and Dave Allocca, surely they are deserving of an opportunity as well.

Yes, clearly he has UKFW but he has been playing in a lesser competition in the VFL in a side that were getting pumped every week. I know he played at Centrals last year, but surely he would need a couple of weeks to settle back into the change in styles from VFL and SANFL as well as re-familiarising himself with his old surroundings and many new team mates. I just think there are a couple of players more deserving to be in the league side this week (for Thomas Dunne) over Slatts, Richie or Goody for that matter.

And I'm not sure if you saw all of the Central v North reserves game last week, but to be completely honest, if you saw ALL of Charles' game,(which I happened to) surely you would agree that he didn't play anywhere near good enough to warrant promotion to the senior side after 1 game, especially with a few of the other names performing well as mentioned above, knocking on the selection door. I think Charles will get better in the next few weeks and, at his best, is capable of cracking the Dogs best 21 but still has a bit of work to do based on last weeks effort in the reserves.

Thanks Bignote just when I saw you state Slattery hadnt played any footy this season I thought Id ask. I was pretty sure he had been playing with Bendigo but they do have a few SLattery's on their list.

You and Me (and me) both clearly know that I meant Charles hadn't played any football for Centrals this year. I will edit my previous post for those that weren't exactly aware that this was the case. Thanks for pointing that out to Me though UKFW, it gave me an opportunity to clarify it for others.

Would it be too much to ask for a South team-sheet before the day?!
But yes, it was a pretty pointless comment wasn't it?!

From past experiences, the Panthers are probably the hardest side to get a selected team from. Sometimes it is posted on the SANFL web site but not as often as other sides. I have never seen one on the SAFC web site or on their fan forum either.

Normally I just wait for the 'Tiser Footy Liftout tomorrow but I'm currently tuning into the 5RPH League Teams Show and have an interest in the Panthers side for this week so will try and jot it down when Zac Milbank reads them out and then I'll post it on here later on.

Everyone seems to have tipped doom and gloom for my beloved Panthers but if they play with the right spirit and god is with us we are a chance.

All panthers supporters should get down to the ground so that the Gowans brothers can feel the wrath of the lord, as the lord doesn't accept their cheating ways.

Im hoping the heavens are clear so i can wear my newly purchased South t-shirt for the very first time to a game.

If we save all our Sunday prayers for a devine South performance we just may be granted a miracle from above.

Amen

God doesn't know the first thing about footy (the heavenly one, not Russell Ebert), so best to hope that your team has its sh*t together and comes to play my friend. ;)

I learnt the hard way there was no God after our first few GF debacles against Port.
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

Not a drama BigNote. I take your note on match fitness for Goodrem and Cochrane. But I thought maybe Slattery could have been called up seeing he had been playing VFL football. Although I cant disagree with your point Habel(future gun) Alloca and Brading even Barmby could of all been good options for Dunne. Maybe Im being to harsh on the lad but he has been down for the last couple of weeks.

Dogs by about 6 goals.

"Cheating ways", you are kidding me aren't you my almighty lord

You sure it's not more like Panthers fans should get along so they can show their "regret" that South didn't end up recruiting the Gowans boys instead ;)

I do know that whenever Doggies fans watch the Gowans boys go about it there is plenty of this going on towards them, which I'm sure you are well aware of ( ;) ) :prayer: :ympray:

In all seriousness though, I don't think the game will be as much of a blowout as many may think.

South have showed gradual improvement and from what I saw of them against the Eagles on Sunday, I think they can be competitive enough for perhaps 3 quarters against the Dogs.

I just feel that with their somewhat inexperienced line up and still a lack of 4 quarter consistancy, the Dogs will do enough to win the 5 or 6 goals. Looking forward to seeing Mitch Farmer in the league side for the Panthers.
