It gives you an idea about the frame of mind Norwood supporters are in when we are "thankful" for the reserves only losing by 14 points. This footy season has gone long enough, start the finals and get it over with :)

Norwood hey. Lost a lot of money by cheating and have lost a lot on recruiting. How woeful is Doyle. He attempted to touch a ball on the line in the last Q and it was the softest most pathetic thing I reckon I have seen. All that bloke can do is spoil a ball. Jericho ............... is this bloke SANFL standard ???? Woeful skills by both teams and I thought Port got a rough deal by the umps. Do they know what holding the ball is ? Long road for Norwood ahead.

Cheating? Yeah right. They volunteered the breach to the League. If it was cheating, they would have been 'busted'. They've copped a heavy fine, so they have paid their pennance and so have their members and supporters. Get over it.

Port far too honest and determined yesterday, thoroughly deserving in victory ... The 4 M's to me seemed to be the main destroyers, Murray (sorry Topsy), Mikeljohn, Mardling and McInerney.

Norwood are just a terrible footy team, all we can do is handball and even then it rarely hits a target.

Some interesting stats from the match:

Port's 2nd quarter:

Inside 50: 22-8
Marks inside 50: 5-0
Clangers: 2-10 (Norwood on 10)
Centre breaks: 5-5

Port's final quarter:

Inside 50: 11-15
Marks inside 50: 3-2
Clangers: 2-4
Centre breaks: 2-5
Can you guess where I'm calling from, the Las Vegas Hilton...

Out of interest, anyone know what the crowd figure was? At the end of the ressies it looked an appalling turnout, but as with many games there was a fair late arrival.

I'd guess it was still down on what Ports would have been hoping for, but reasonable.

Having watched the game on tv yesterday, can someone tell me what Massie and Jericho are doing playing for Norwood this year. I have never seen two players look so disinterested on the field before   . Massie stood by numerous times whilst an opponent nearby picked the ball up and goaled with ease. Where too for Norwood now? It is clearly an attitude issue that is stopping them from playing their best footy on a weekly basis because their best as shown V the eagles is good footy but their bad is woeful, if they played in the manner they did yesterday V Glenelg they would've lost by 20 goals.

I would add McGuinness to those names to wyc - seemed all he wanted to do was argue with the umps, play for free kicks, and then there was that deliberate out-of-bounds brain explosion (granted, he may have been trying to rush a behind).

There was a couple of plays that you did during the day which had me in awe with your handball. One where you pretty much handballed all the way up the field from deep in defence and goaled on the run from about 30 out. Was mind blowingly good. Think it was at the start of the 3rd quarter (maybe the 1st goal?). But yeah, over handball at other times.

Too many supposed A-graders playing like passengers, just like many Port players of the past few years. Like the look of Stopp. Pretty big lad and wouldnt be surprised if AFL teams have another look at him over the next two years.

3688. Probably lower than you like.

I think Port are still either 1st or 2nd for average attendance this year though

Norwood lose to a more committed Port without their one true star in Clayton and to top it all off Murray has the ball fall in his lap about a hundred times through the game. A fantastic day all around.

Quick note to Trevor Hill.

If, as you've said before in a pathetic attempt to deflect attention from your singularily appaling coaching record, said that the third quarter performance was not as a result of anything you said why are you still picking those players who aren't following instructions?
'People are not stupid. They know when they are being conned. And two reserves teams operating in a League competition will reduce it to a farce, a competition without a soul.'
