does any body know what their emblin was when in the VFL

2 different colours (WEST & SWANS ) but have had the same NICKNAME???

back to the topic THE BLOODS

Mate, we still used a Swan as our emblem as South - in fact the Swan name and logo is a point of some conjecture - whether it originated from all the swans on Albert Park Lake (adjacent to our home the Lake Oval), or because of all the West Australians we brought over in the 30's (to win the 1933 'Foreign Legion' flag).

I was 6 when we moved to Sydney, so I'm going a bit from history books the old man has...

Hope this helps

Cheers,

No worries mate. Bloods came from 'Blood stained Angels', which was the old nickname before the Swans was adopted. (due to the white jumper with the red V)

Central supporters chanting U Dogs at a Central v West game would be like North supporters chanting U Birds at a North v Eagles game. :?

Do you get confused when North fans chant U reds against teams that also have red in their guernsey? What about wearing you "innovators not imitators" t shirts despite copying the dogs with "Grand North"?....... ;)

Nah, not at all, North is the only team predominately red so that doesn't confuse me, wearing those Tshirts make sense as it alludes to the history of the chant and the Grand North makes perfect sense as its on Grand Junction Road, if it was on any other road it would be confusing.
BUt yes if North fans chanted U Birds at an Eagles match which is akin to Central supporters chanting U Dogs at a match between 2 clubs that have had a dog as their emblem I'd be very confused. Hasn't happened yet though so there's been no confusion yet. ;)

PS And don't forget North have historic links to the Medindie Dingoes who are dogs too.
