I also agree about O'Hara. He looks terrific and won't be on minimum payments next contract.

As for Sibenaler, I think he'll struggle if Savage is recruited.

Red
I think its time to move on from the whole salary cap thing, Im sure if the SANFL went through ANY clubs books all would be within the cap and all above board

I was just responding in general terms to Phil's post, dash, so neither of us are suggesting there's any salary cap transgressions. We're just discussing what room Central might have left.

Enjoyable discussion about a few players, too, Phil.

You see Sibenaler more than me, Phil, so I'll accept your thoughts on him.

As for the salary cap, I'm sure you're right though, dash.

Savage was quoted in The Mercury last week as saying he was now more likely to stay in Tassie and play with his brother in Launceston.

Yes, I have enjoyed the conversation as well red...

Sounds like Sibenaler won't have to worry about Savage next season anyway, seems as though he is keen to stay in Tasmania...

Like I said before, Sibenaler is still a very capable defender, just has a few issues with consistancy at times. I'm sure if Savage isn't on the radar for the Dogs anymore, the club will still look at a capable defender, especially if Aufderhiede does retire as well...

I love the way people always pretend to know how much our players are being paid. The truth is that I doubt anyone here actually knows at all!

Exactly Grahaml...

All any of us can do is just estimate and guess what certain players are on based on opinions of their value to the individual clubs. Of course we factor in the total value of the salary cap, the amount of star players in a side and the rest is guess work....

On the VFL site it mentioned that Centrals are talking to Port Melbourne player, Toby Pinwell

Would be a handy pick up I reckon...

I like to keep a close eye on the VFL throughout the year and he seems to be a consistant goal kicking on baller with a bit of grunt...

He was their runner up best and fairest for season 08 and was judged their league sides "most determined" for the year...

Thanks to the Port Melbourne web site, here's a link to his profile...

I believe Craig Gogoll is no longer at the Eagles, will you like him back to cover some of your losses.

Not really. Craig was shown up several times and never even looked like making the grade. I doubt we'd want him back to rob some kid with a chance of making it a key defense post in the reserves. And if you don't play Craig there then you won't play him anywhere. Sadly it's SAAFL for the guy IMHO.

It's quite unlike CDFC fans to take something too seriously and not understand the inherent humour.

I think Craig Gogol showed potential in his early years but not only struggled a fair bit with injury, but also never made the most of his opportunities at league level when at Centrals. I remember his league debut for the Dogs a few years back against Sturt at Adelaide Oval. He had the task of playing on Brant Chambers and he didn't do too bad with Chambo only kicking 3 or 4 IIRC.

I think you will find that Craig will probably end up back in the Barossa Valley league, that is where he is from originally and they generally have pretty good money up in this league. I think he is from Barossa Districts but with the strong association the Eagles have with Henley in the SAAFL he could end up playing out there. Only time will tell I guess...

Craig had a go, he played some good reserves games but struggled in the league team....getting 10 kicked on you by Daniel Hargraves (given his age and fitness) does not look good on the CV. He can make a good dollar somewhere playing a level down.

Names that have been thrown around though are:

Ryan Williams
Eddie Sansbury
Alan Obst
Breenan Savage
Nathan Street
Peter Street
Luke Jericho
Chris Urie
Shane Valenti
Adrian Wilson
Alex Grima
Blake Grima
Danny Boyle

I don't think we will see Ryan Williams in the SANFL next year, unless given another chance with the Power, St. Kilda keen to recruit him.

I have heard Eddie Sansbury is settled into Victorian lifestyle, has a good job and a pretty good offer on the table from North Ballarat.

Alan Obst was delisted by the Kangaroos but has been given another opportunity to at least train with them again so could stay in Melbourne.

As for the other names, I would suggest that the only ones likely to be in a Dogs jumper next year would be Urie, N.Street and Savage.

Daniel Boyle also training with the Power again hoping to be relisted as a rookie again, otherwise may head home to Victoria I'd say.

Nathan Street has signed with South Fremantle.

Centrals will free up salary cap money by giving the likes of Heath Lawry a salary cut. Hard to believe but he was the highest paid player at the club last season, that will be seriously cut after a poor season which saw him miss the GF.

Eddie Sansbury is now the #1 target with Nathen Street going to the WAFL.
