I agree with this not because of the dramatics, but because I love to come on the forum and go into the live scores thread and read score by score for a game I have missed that day .. and thread titles like this give away the result. :(

Alright already, I promise to not do it again and will change it, although I know it is a bit too late now...

I'm sorry :(

Sad ending to Tubby's last Prospect game, but to quote that old cliche', "now we can concentrate on building for the future". We do have some quality players, and some good youngsters, we just need the glue to hold it all together.

Will be interesting to see what the side looks like next year; did Jars get a further 12 months (is it official, does anyone really know)? Most sites this year have alluded to internal problems and this reflects on trust and loyalty, both of which only work if they are two way. There have been suggestions of unhappy players, and this occurs when they are either not being kept informed, or worse still being miss-informed. Either way, the problem does not go away until unity is restored.

I agree JC, we have some quality players and good youngsters, but how many will be at Prospect next year. Anybody care to list the ones who we need to keep but may be lost after a season of broken promises and being overlooked for lesser performed players?

Captaincy for next year will be critical to the situation with Tubby retiring. Rocket Rooster site slants for Allers to fill the shoes, but is he able to provide a balance between management and players as their representative, LEAD and GUIDE the players on the field and maintain his own form all at once? Allers is a great player, but is he a leader on the field? Leadership by example alone is insufficient. Who else is there to fill these shoes? Unit comes to mind as a possibility.

Any thoughts or considerations?

Just listening to the call on 5RPH, sounded like he did a couple of good things but Mieklejohn eas clearly the best big man on the ground...

Might be better coming from someone who was actually at the game though. Don't forget he is raw and it was only his 2nd league game...

Dodman looked at sea. For a big guy who played basketball I thought he would have a good leap, but no he has not. His attributes are a big body (so hard to move/brush aside/out muscle) and a good pair of hands. When the ball hits them it sticks. Kicking, a mixed bag. Better at goal (bigger target) as he is not good at pin-pointing another player.

I think Port had studied his 1st game and for the most part were able to keep the ball away.

Rucking wise he was more solid as he just stood there and that is one mountain to get around. If he had a leap it would be great as he would knock the others for six, or at least hurt anyone game to run into him.

Well done Port - completely outclassed North yesterday. The lack of urgency and faliure to show any respect to the opponent was disgraceful by North and IMO the blame lies with the coach as much of the insipid performance by our players - especially some of the higher profile experienced ones.

Thank god the season has finally been put to rest!

Right, now I'm sober again, let me just say what a fantastic effort that was yesterday. Dolling and Perkins were terrific and Ah Chee was superb in defence (which is where he should stay!). Murray and Summerton were hard at it, and even though Jezza was quiet, he still did enough to outshine his various opponents. Hargraves was a decent target and had to be given some attention, but that really just opened up the forward lines for Port's midfield to score goals at will.

Dodman was killed in the ruck, but looked OK around the ground. But he'd be better with a neck I reckon...

It was nice to do Apu on North's finals hopes...

So we're sitting second on the table because we've only been able to beat North all year? Could have sworn we'd won a few more games than that.

PS - a change of beating?

I reckon North need a clean-out.

We have absolutely no system or game plan at all. We run the ball across the centre and then pass it to the boundary, or kick it to our smallest player within the 50m line (with Dodman waiting in the square), or kick it a few metres too far from their team-mate, or handpass it to someone who is under pressure, or simply kick it straight to the opposition. If this is because our coach has not developed a game-plan this year then he should be tossed out. However, if it is because the players are not bothering to follow the coach's gameplan, then some of the players should be tossed out. Only the football department would know what the root of the problem is, but they need to work out what the problem is and fix it.

well i've seen him out there the last 2 weeks & he hasn't done very much & this is from a bloke who was dominating earlier in the year so much so that he made the state team & atm he wouldn't make a '2nd 18' state team

Our opposition has worked out that this year if you stop Alleway, you stop North. He usually has more than one opposition bloke going up with him. Plus when your team-mates' passes are more often than not either too high or too far in front, he doesn't have much of a chance.

Good comment. This is what I said on the "Genelg/North Review" last week.

Adam4 wrote:What I did see was Glenelg play as a team for 90% of the day and North only >70% of the time. Some have said that this is not the coaching, but I think it is as the drills set up player thinking/reaction. I saw Bay jumpers spread around the fall of the ball so that most of the time they had someone to give it to and then another coming through for the second give off. A well drilled machine. Yes the last 2 games have been an improvement in the way North play, but too late.

A team of champions will not beat a champion team, and we have the players to make a champion team but have no structure/plan/process to bring it together.

I still think it is mainly coaching because game plans need to be well drilled with backup moves to keep them guessing. I also posted this after the South game:

Adam4 wrote:I taped the ABC program and had a review last night. ANJ’s comment at the 3/4 time huddle summed it up. Too much bombing at the 2 key forwards (read talls) in Allers and Stewart (finally noticed what has been happening all year – too late the mindset is fixed in). These guys were being ganged 3 to 1 very successfully by South (well done South, you are one of 8 teams who have picked North’s 95% method of 50M entry – not rocket science). ANJ begged the players on camera to look at secondary options noting that the Half Forwards were often open for a reception.

The commentators, I think in the second quarter noted when D White (I think) marked and Delvo charging into the 50M area clear of opposition (off camera), so the delivery goes to Allers with 3 South players on him, result turn over. No disrespect, Allers is a great player, probably noticed more as most delivery’s go to him and he fights hard to keep the ball in. But until North seriously accept secondary options forcing oppositions to spread out to cover all players, only then will we see the key forwards in a more even situation.

The half forwards are required to fan out to give the key players an open spece to run into. Mid-fielders and backs need to look for them more.

All this = coaching and game plan IMHO!!!!

I know it's harsh to make a call based on a few comments, but in the paper today I thought it was really significant that ANJ talked about his players as "they". In fact I thought it was hard of him to say "they let him down" when talking about Wintle. Compare this to Laird's comments always being "we" and I think perhaps Jarman thinks too much as the job of winning being the players responsibility alone and not much to do with him while Laird considers himself part of the "team". this could come back to their playing days where Laird would do a job for the team and Jarman would just play. Anyway, just a small thing I thought might be significant to his mindset and another excuse to sink the boot in to ANJ.
