Are Port Adelaide Football Club more important than Sturt, Central or West? Are the Adelaide Crows more important than Norwood, South and Glenelg? I think this is the question SANFL directors need to ask. How much do the SANFL clubs mean to this state. If they mean anything, our directors will vote against a concept that will destroy the competition. If everything is merely a cog to make the Crows and Power stronger then by all means let them shite all over the SANFL. It is disgusting listening to the sport stations in this city. They have no care for anything below AFL level.

I try to avoid 5AA at all costs, but occasionally curiosity gets the better of me...McDermott is a complete dill. An AFL puppet. His theories to support a Crows reserves team are seriously flawed (Even Cornes ran rings around him in an argument about it tonight). Rowey started off being very opposed to this happening, but seems to have lost the fire. I'm sure its no different on MMM.

Well said. They put up a fight, get their belly's scratched, roll over and take the money. What a disgrace.
The only one, surprisingly, to be an adamant "No" is Chris Dittmar.

What part of I support the Port Adelaide Magpies and don't give a sh#t about the Power don't you understand?
And I would never put Carlton ahead of the Magpies........never ever!!
Seems like most Port supporters on here are putting the Power before the 'real' PORT!!

Postby Apachebulldog » Sat Jul 13, 2013 10:18 am

Hey friends this is what i have emailed this morning to 5AA will someone have the balls to read some of it out ???????????

THERES ROOM FOR PORT ADELAIDE POWER RESERVES IN SANFL WITHOUT COMPROMISING MAGPIES !!!!!

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl ... 6676672496

I took some time to obtain these stats so would you kindly discuss i have tried to keep it as brief as possible

I hope someone has the courtesy and the guts to take on Mr Rucci on the above article to discuss some of his statements and my points on your show this morning as this is a very emotional issue and an agenda which has the potential to decimate OUR SANFL and affect thousands of SANFL purists and followers of whom some have threatened to walk away from the SANFL.

Hi panel great show this is directed at Mr Rucci and his article on the 9/07/2013 on the Adelaide Now site i have e mailed over the last few weeks on this hot topic and not one has been read on air so can all of you have some input and responses PLEASE !!!

For your information i will highlight the attendances for round 1 to counter your statement “ It is on its knees with dwindling crowds finances in a poor state etc etc “

Rucci in your article you compare crowd numbers in 1993 and hence now in 2013 is this an attempt to justify the AFL RESERVES agenda you conveniently outlined the worst crowd attendances in the SANFL during this winter for round 15 the coldest wettest and the most dismal weekend for footy in a long time.

It was also the same weekend the Adelaide Crows hosted the West Coast Eagles and only managed to attract 26,000 footy fans gee i wonder why.

Port v Norwood 7,560
West v Central 2,971
South v Glenelg 4,530
Sturt v Eagles 3,156

As for finances because the SANFL had to take out loans in conjunction with the AFL to bail out the Port Adelaide Power and keep them afloat maybe the SANFL would be in a better financial situation today.

In the near future if this Adelaide Oval/SMA/SACA fiasco is settled then with the possible sale of AAMI stadium the sale of both AFL licences the SANFL will be financially strong once again.

I suggest you do a bit more research before publishing and making statements to give the impression that the SANFL is in a bad way is this an attempt to bolster the acceptance of AFL RESERVES as a saviour of SA football. ????

Why don't you write and publish an article of what has happened across the border in the VFL the pseudo AFL RESERVES COMP in a city with FOUR times the population of Adelaide they can only draw an average of 2,000 people per game and then not to mention their Grand Final attendances which are less than half that of the SANFL.

The above says it all footy fans are NOT interested in going to watch AFL RESERVES sides they are only interested in the main game.

I could also mention the WAFL but i won't go there as it is a basket case and now with the AFL reserves officially approved for 2014 will spell the death of this once great competition.

We all know those halcyon days of the 60’s 70 ‘s 80’s are gone however stop painting a negative picture to the SA footy public that the SANFL is stuffed for your information it is still a strong and vibrant competition where a lot of fantastic and very skilled interstate players come over to be part of the second best competition in Australia.

The trouble also is that most of the media in South Australia since 1990/1997 have jumped onto the AFL bandwagon/circus and have completely forgotten their roots and abandoned the SANFL until now.

However i do agree with you on the Magpies brand they must stand alone in the competition as they are an integral part and MUST remain in the SANFL 143 years of Magpie history MUST not and cannot be erased with the stroke of a pen.

So in the end the real question for all of us is do we all just sit back then wait and watch the SANFL be destroyed just like what has happened to all the other state leagues all this to satisfy the whim of two AFL clubs.

The Power and the Crows MUST go and play in the VFL which at the moment is the pseudo AFL Reserves competition this is the consensus of thousands of SANFL footy followers.

Yeah because thousands are johnny come lately Power followers who have not got a clue about the REAL MAGPIES and thosands of others well they are traitors who abandoned and deserted the MAGPIES to go and follow the new CIRCUS in town then you have thousands who do not know who the they have a foot in both camps they follow both sides only when it suits them.

This says it all so the Power can nick off to the VFL and leave the REAL MAGPIES alone.

This is very true. There is damage that is being done even just with all this talk. Besides Joe Tripodi, no one within the SANFL is giving any impression of positivity or strength. Triple M and 5AA have completely jumped on the AFL Reserves bandwagon. Listening to Tredrea, Ricciuto, Dittmar, KG and Jars last night was disgusting.

I look forward to Centurion getting some coverage in The Advertiser.

they still have a duty of care to their members/supporters/sponsors. IF the Crows & The Power put something forward which is just too amazing to knock back & if it's going to ensure the survival of the SANFL & its clubs, why NOT wait until they see the Crows & Powers final proposals?

I don't envy the position the club Presidents are in now.

They're copping it from all angles. They've got the AFL clubs in their ear selling a package of how much it's worth to them to change the comp. I'm sure the AFL clubs are banging on about the Presidents doing the "right thing" by SA footy.

Then they've got us reminding them how much the comp means to us with people threatening to walk away from the club if they change it.

Let's wait for the final decision before hammering them! But keep lobbying them too so we get the right outcome.

Centurion they might come up with a fantastic proposal on paper however if accepted and implemented will the SANFL then end up like the WAFL and the VFL ruined for ever that is what everyone on this site fears will occur.

The SANFL and the Directors none too happy about Koch's speech at the SANFL lunch yesterday. They appear more united in the anti-Port stance however the Crows is a different matter. Although as some have mentioned on here, the backlash from the members and supporters at the various clubs re the AFL reserves issues has many of them worried about voting anything but No.
