I have to laugh at the "poles apart" posts from Glenelg fans re Backwell. Some are treating him like some football champion who has died and like it is the end of the world for Glenelg. Others are on here bagging the club and coach and predicting doom and gloom.

And to think how much the Glenelg fans over on the "Snouts" forum pride themselves on not stooping to the level of other clubs supporters e.g. North (who they always reference) when there is some drama at their club. Couple this topic with their straight sets exit from last years finals and they are no better or worse than any other emotive group of SANFL supporters even if they don't think they are hypocrites!

Mate, that a great story ... sometimes our kids can surprise us and be more resilient than we can ever give them credit for.

Nothing suprising there, supporter groups essentially are all the same, just like the human race we are all different and have different opinions....so what? :? do you want us to come out with a media release detailing a united message and then all of us to stand by it? Delusional at best....

You're actually agreeing with him Dutchy, his point is aimed at the delusional ones who think they're different.
Just for the record I admire people like Milbo and those willing to look at both point of views, it's those sort of people players play for, not the ones who turn on them in seconds. It's people like this that improve the club IMHO with the mindless sheep that just tow the company line send clubs backwards. Not saying there are any on here, just making a hypothetical point that may or may not be in existence.

I should add that I think every club has it's share of "doers\thinkers" and "sheep" although the percentage might vary. I certainly don't mean to single out any one clubs supporters as that would be delusional and hypocritical of me! ;)

Booney dont open it. Went to a wedding just before christmas and we drank the resturant dry, the only thing they had left were Darwin Stubbies....it was awful. Cant even discribe the taste it was that bad.

LOL, apologies that a group of supporters don't conform to the righteous views of the naysayers and uninformed. To expect a uniform response to a reasonably emotive issue is tad unrealistic.

What's that saying about those in glasshouses?

Just as I witness other passionate supporters backing their team ... ie Booney, GWW, BenReal, NoMercy and get mocked for daring to stand up for the club they love, the supporters of the Bays are no different.

The posts on this site are the culmination of people's beliefs, hopes, passion and one eyed support for their particular footy religion. Some choose to agree, others mock, taunt, disagree politely or violently, others still can make us laugh and take the piss at the same time. Then there are those who are always right, no matter how stupid their argument is.

At the end of the day, there are no right or wrong opinions, and the community on this forum will judge their peers.

So keep up the good work ... post away to your hearts content.

Love and peace to all.

Because it makes those delusional ones that have previously had a go at other clubs supporters for not towing the party line look like foolish hypocrites.

Why? He only got the chop on Monday, not months ago.

OK, Punk Rooster, I apologise. Must be great to be you and being so insightful back in November that you knew the Waratahs were going to play finals and that Brett was going to continue to play up there during the Finals campaign, hence missing out on the training camp that was only decided upon in January. I hope you had money on the Waratahs - would have paid well, I'd guess.

Oh, and I reckon it was Bayman who initially said "Mouse to get the Chop" about 5 years ago when he had his finger cut off - so all apologies should go to Bayman, not you.

Anyone know why a Footy team in the NT is called the Waratahs when it's the NSW floral emblem and name of their rugby team? Is it in reference to the same flower or has a different meaning?

I might be reading too much into things but last night on 5AA Rowe said he'd spent an hour on the phone with Backwell almost begging him to stay. Following on from Bayman's post about this not just being about the NT thing (ie, relating back to events last year) I immediately wondered why it was Rowey (midfield coach) doing the begging and not any other club official?

For the record, Rowe didn't say that he was the only one who tried to convince him to stay. I just thought it strange as soon as Rowe said it. There might be nothing in it and Rowe was the last in line to have a crack at it. Maybe Rowey and Backwell were close and so he was delegated the task (would make sense as Backwell plays midfield).
In between signatures .....

The Waratahs are actually known as the Warriors. From memory, and I left Darwin 10 years ago now, Waratah is a small suburb near Larrakeyah. But I am sure that AMBays will know the real reason, he played for them, I played for Combined Services in the NTFA.

Missed the point, they'd be delusional if they thought that all their fans towed the company line and chastise fans of other clubs for not doing it.
Just for the record I think the Dogs fans are just about the best when it comes to demanding excellence and keeping their club on it's toes, an eg when they got an average supporter in the outer elected to the board.
I think the fact that they're not delusional sheep is one of the reasons for their success and I commend them on it.
