I think it's time to go all Kevin Rudd on Julia Fuller.... You can easily replace a coach,, but it's very tough replacing good players...

He has trained a fair bit throughout this year but due to his business cannot commit to every game or training session. Last Sunday was his first league game back. Has played a few reserves games and the Foxtel Cup game and looks super fit.

Plenty of room on the bandwagon still Centurion, I have reserved a spot for you :)

Here we go !!

Let the madness begin at South !!!

Only 2 league players???? :?

I believe Tarquin Brown who played a number of league games earlier in the year has left South to play for Victor Harbor. I guess it happens a lot with fringe players, although I thought Brown's form wasn't too bad in a couple of games I saw him this year.

I think South are a bit unlucky with the fact that there is very good money in the GSFL competition which is 20 minutes up the road.
This is offset with the advantage they have with their country zone being 20 mins up the road so its very easy and cheap for them to play country kids in their under age programs every week.

Central have been quite succesful over the last 12 years though. Playes will knock back some good money for a chance to play in an SANFL GF

Adelaide plains up that way as well throwing dollars around. Might be something in the success keeping the players around, but I fear the culture aspect is a bigger factor.

He started after the year began, so I assume his salary would have needed to be added to Westies estimated salary payments for the year?

The accountants are good down there, hope they got it right. ;)

Lost quite a few high paid players at the end of last season and didnt replace them so should be all good

Nice, I liked his game with the Crows but thought he got a bit lost in Neil Craig's 'detailed programmatic specificity' playbook.

Yep he's gone back to what I'd guess you'd call his local club - handy player.
Stribling and Pfeiffer, however you spell it, have gone to East Gambier.
Many more at years end.... :(

"The South Adelaide Football Club advises that Toby Stribling and Todd Pfeiffer have left the club. In an environment where the Club is needing an energetic, determined and positive approach from all parties to turn around our on-field performance, Toby and Todd have asked to be released from their current playing contracts.

We understand there will be some disappointment from our supporters with this situation and we look forward to working with the playing group as they give their all to realise the potential of the team"

Whilst you dont want players representing your club who no long wish to be there, and turn over is generally high in the SANFL, this seems to happen a hell of lot at South. Either the club has little idea on how to treat and retain players, or we attract a lot of fickle, weak footballers who jump ship once the going gets a little tough, or they get demoted to the twos. Probably a combination of the two?
