Sturt coach Seamus Maloney mentioned on FiveAA last night that James Plant has retired immediately from SANFL and will not play for Sturt's Reserves in the finals.

Would not be surprised to see James head to Yankalilla in the GSFL in 2013 if he has retired. Would play with Tom and Robbie , you would think he would enjoy running around with his brothers.

The Eagles Karaoke squad will be better for having him on board.

Greigers retirement would have to be the worst kept secret ever.As for Shirley should never been recruited only added to the Eagles lack of pace won't be missed, unlike Greiger

Think that's a bit harsh on Shirley, I was unsure early of his value thought his last two-thirds of the year was pretty good.

Ben Grieger has been a great pick up. I remember noticing him when he played for West and played on Passador one game. I'm not sure he let Passador get a mark and wore him like a glove. He didn't look like he could do anything when he got the ball but boy he could spoil.

Fast Forward 5 or 6 years later and he has been a brilliant pick up for the Eagles. Fair to say we wouldn't have made the finals this year if it wasn't for his efforts in ruck. Has been a quality full back also and his disposal, while ugly, is often effective. A good player and a shame to not see him play out a few more years and really stamp himself on the club. A premiership player though and very serviceable in his short time with the club.

Shirley has been good this year and while it didn't work out as far as giving the premiership a crack, he was serviceable all season and he certainly got the most out of his career at AFL level. One of those players that had a better career at AFL level than SANFL level.

As for Cica, have already said enough about him, but he is a champion and will be missed!

Not surprising but a bit disappointing we didn't get to see whether he could have an impact in this league. Would have liked to have seem him prove his detractors wrong next year.
As he said in the members email, he underestimated the strength of, and what was required to play in, the SANFL

Oh Phil how naive you are... Thats a nice way of letting everyone think he is headed home without being sacked!

The email the Eagles sent out said it was a 'mutual agreement' to part ways. Call it what you want, no skin off my nose...

Looks like a bit of rebuilding down at Eggland. Lets see how they recruit to cover the losses but some famous names gone. Cicca was a bloddy tough nut.

Btw what happened to Ramsey and that other Norwood lad that headed down there. Did not really hear much about them. Liked Ramsy as a player at Norwood even though a bit small.

He played one game in the league side but is clearly not up to league level and should be given the boot. A very similar player to Lane but probably not as efficient a user.

I want to know what happened to Jarrod Harding. He was recruited back to the eagles from GWS at the beginning of the year and I think played some reserves games but then disappeared. Another magnificent recruiting effort by the eagles?

Found this hard to believe, but heard he was back playing Div 6 at Woody South?
Not sure whether it was a mutual thing due to fitness, but would hope he'd be back.
I could also be totally wrong.
