Cica, Clayton and now the Gowans. That's a huge loss to the SANFL. All of them quite similar in personality on the footy field. All of them legends of this era of SANFL. Niggle factor across the comp in 2013 will be way down.

Great careers for the two of them, no right minded person should begrudge the accolades that will now come their way.

On another note, are crowds that poor at Elizabeth that they have to break the up until now very strict 'no retirement announcements during the year' rule to pump up attendance figures?

I also thought of the no announcements rules that Roy likes when I read the official news. I doubt it's a ploy to get a few thousand more fans but possibly they made an exception in light of what they've brought to the club and to make sure the fans knew this was their last appearance at Elizabeth so they could say their respects.

Deserves a thread of it's own. Gun player and a top bloke. Favourite memory the little shake of the head as he won a free kick after Chambo pushed him in the 2nd qtr of the 08 Prelim.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Has been in at least 2 TOTY's. Has held Glenelg's defence together over the years, his first couple of years were outstanding.

Thanks Sammy, gave his all to the GFC.
