Not even 10 pages yet three days after the GF, (is barely 10 pages if you add the Eagles 2020 premiers thread)

FFS, last years GF thread was 14 pages even before the end of the game!

Amateurs!

8 pages of you playing with yourself don't count.

That was AFTER the GF ;) , I mean even the 2018 GF had 15 pages before the end of the game!

Damn, if he lived 10kms north he would have been a Rooster!

Same with the Hayes boys although a few Km south and Campbell Combe may have been an Eagle. That would have been a good get.

The Hayes family come from Redhill have a farm next to the Heinjus'.

The Heinjus lease that farm now I believe, unless im getting my Heinjus mixed up. I work with Andrew Heinjus, one of the best blokes you will meet.

Was Allmond carrying an injury or did he get hurt early in the game, he was very quiet by his standards. I noticed he got pummelled a number of times by the Eagles players so there may be some bad blood there.

Firns wore him like a glove. Did a similar job on Haines from South. Was also able to get plenty of the ball himself.

I have always had a lot of time for Firns: a good, hard, honest player. Just a pity that his kicking lets him down (sometimes). But he is in the side for his tagging role which he does very well.

Thursday nite, and no footy teams. So Season 2020 ends, and a long hot summer begins. Time to head off to St Moritz.

Not quite over yet 'whybother'. Expecting a massive night at the B & F next Friday night at Adelaide Oval. Not held at oval due to covid restrictions of only 170 patrons. Over 380 bookings already I believe.

I put this up on another site. Sunday I was not able to view the Reserves on digital and have only today been able to access.
After 4 days my digital pass has come back with drop down windows on all grades and I can watch the reserves GF finally. Did anyone have the same issue in that they could not watch the game Sunday. I rang the footy club and their thoughts were that it may have expired owing to the season going longer.

I saw that funny the Norwood game v Eagles it totally stuffed up on us .
Not surprising to me
I hope you are enjoying it
That second quarter in the main game was fantastic
And the Eagles chant was epic

Second quarter team stats were damning, especially the inside 50's and clearances. I don't know if I've seen a greater disparity in inside 50's for a quarter, 25 to 2 if memory serves me correctly.

Interestingly 3 out of the last 4 Eagle premierships have come very quickly after a change of coach.
1993- Winter after Balme in 1992
2011-Godden after Fuller in 2009
2020-Sheedy after Lonergan in 2019
Only exception 2006 where Fuller had been in charge for 6 years.
Not sure what you can read into it but interesting.

How long it has taken all premiership coaches to attain their first flag with a club since 2000:

Code: Select all
year   club            coach           time
2020   Eagles          Jade Sheedy     1st year
2019   Glenelg         Mark Stone      2nd year
2018   North           Josh Carr       3rd year
2016   Sturt           Martin Mattner  1st year
2015   West            Mark Mickan     2nd year
2014   Norwood         Ben Warren      1st year
2012   Norwood         Nathan Bassett  3rd year, runner up in 1st year
2011   Eagles          Mick Godden     2nd year
2006   Eagles          Ron Fuller      6th year
2003   Central         Roy Laird       1st year
2002   Sturt           Brenton Philips 1st year
2001   Central         Al Clarkson     1st year
2000   Central         Peter Jonas     3rd year

Six of those coaches - almost half - won a flag in their first year. Only 4 of the thirteen took more than 2 years to win their first flag. It looks like The Eagles' record is par for the course, with Ronny's 6 years being an outlier.

I suspect this is more to do with the typical turnover rate at SANFL clubs these days, than any other reason.

Now Colville has left West, I would like to see the 2020 premiers approach him to re-join his old club where he is a highly respected figure as an assistant or specialist coach
