bennymacca wrote:lol guys, i was just asking the question.

ill state it for the millionth time. i dont like the crows reserves in the SANFL and would prefer them in their own afl reserves comp.

BUT

the hyperbole about this being the end of the SANFL, and the squealing about how they wont try but will also be too good and crowds will go down even though it is the supposed diehards that are causing that problem etc etc etc is the thing that does my head in.

Then stop bringing it up, we're trying to discuss the Foxtel Cup

Well go to Big Footy, where the AFL is unchallenged.
But you won't, because you like having your head done in, that's why you keep responding to threads and also asking questions which provoke such responses.

at least people on here have managed to convince Benny of the undesirability of AFL in the SANFL, only last week he was a confessed fence sitter ;)

I will still stick to my comment of a few years ago about this Mickey Mouse Cup is a joke where some football clubs and most footy supporters do not give a stuff about it.

There really is a simple solution to all this rubbish.

Foxtel must get together with the AFL and turn the Foxtel Cup into a AFL reserves competition.

This will have the dual effect of a true AFL reserves competition and NO AFL reserves teams in state Leagues.

This will make all AFL followers happy and state league followers very very HAPPY !!!!!

Surely with the BILLION dollars the AFL generates this can be achieved !!!!!!!!!

So faarrrking SIMPLE !!!!!!!

As do I.

The only issue from a foxtel point of view is they like it because it fills some midweek airtime. I'm not sure how a reserves comp can do that, at least without the afl emergencies not getting a game every week

There is next to no crossover between a midweek, short-game, state league team knockout comp involving about 10 games for the whole comp, and a full-blown AFL reserves competition involving about 200 games per year, 9 every weekend, with (presumably) full-length games, a league ladder, etcetera. They are just completely different beasts.

Foxtel may well have to be involved if/when an AFL reserves comp is going to get up—but the Foxtel Cup will never morph into an AFL reserves competition.

Yep, well said. If it's worth the effort, then put the effort into it.

1st Semi final last night 24/6/13:

West Perth 15.7: 97 d Western Storm 3.5: 23

I went to the match thinking West Perth, with four players making their senior debut and missing about six regulars could come unstuck against a side that beat West Adelaide. But the Falcons romped it.

How bad are the Bloods?

Formed after South Launceston withdrew from the State League. Majority of South's better players moved to the new club hence why they took the invitation to the Foxtel Cup.

Lol the crowd should be good, with the home fans having to make the trek from Melbourne to Geelong (for some reason) on a Tuesday night.

I wonder what the cut is for the players involved in the game...I also wonder if Daniel Kulikowski wonders the same thing!
