At the start of 2012 season the Eagles lost Tiller, Allmond and Hoban and were not replaced, this gives salary cap space.
End of 2012 Eagles lose McKenzie, Cicolella, Shirley, Grieger and Eddy, this adds up to a lot more salary cap space.
Allmond will return and two to three new recruits mentioned, should easily be fitted under cap.

Ahhhhh it must be the off season.

Rule 1- whenever a team recruits more than two players they must be breaking the salary cap

Rule 2A- whenever your team misses out on a recruit it was purely because of money
2B- the team who does recruit player in 2A must be breaking the salary cap

Rule 3- any team who recruits a player from interstate will then be under salary cap investigation

Rule 4- if a player leaves your club he was no good anyway

Rule 5- if a player comes to your club his a gun and was just hard done by at his other club

Rule 6- any player who wasn't in your league side is unsettled and will be moving to another sanfl club or the ammos/country for money

Rule 7- the team who recruits the most players will wear premiership favourtism no matter how far behind Norwood they are.

Rule 8- any ex afl player recruited is a money hungry hack who is using the sanfl to fund his retirement

You think Hoban was on some big coin

Given the ex AFL and club legends would be on the big bucks.

OTR i have heard the same, mucho $$, well done to South to not cave in to unrealistic money demands, the club dearly wanted Ainger to stay but paying the sort of $$ would require creative accounting that the club wouldn't be part of. Besides, this is the sort of practice that usually spells dissent amoungst a team and some years ago South ventured down this path much to its cost. Good to see a strong stance taken.

Yes, he was one of their VC, I think?

Dolling Lees and Young all retired...
Will be missed by the Magpies, for sure...

****!

Froggy is only 25 and has plenty of good football ahead of him and is a leader at Alberton, he'll be missed.

Youngy too has loads to offer still and Lees was beginning to look like injuries had taken their toll on his body.

Not a great start to season 2013...

Eagles might be joining one other club under the microscope currently re it's Salary Cap justifications?

Still waiting for results of your last "alledged" investgations at Oval Avenue, OTR

Monday May 3rd 2010

That's 'rich' coming from a club (Eagles) who is allegedly currently being looked at as to how many players they have employed in marketing and development roles - I think that breach will be far more significant than Norths piddly $4500 odd "mis payment"!

you dish it out but you bleat like baby when it comes back in spades! You (and Phil H - suprised by him!) getting all excited without knowing what I have ALLEGEDLY been told. Perhaps the ALLEGED problem is not so much who is officially in development / marketing roles at WWT and above board but those players receiving payments for "supposed work" in those areas? Allegedly this has been looked at for quite sometime over the past few seasons.

What happened there?

Maybe the Eagles are good at "creative accounting" but you can't deny they were not looked at outside the normal yearly audits conducted by the SANFL.

Well done to South for not caving in if Aingers demands were too high but anyone thinking that the Eagles and North aren't going to be big players in this years off season is deluded. Eagles lose a 5 time Club Champ, a 2 time Club Champ, a 200 game Afl player and an interstate recruit in one hit and North lose a 3 time Magarey medalist, their former captain and key forward and the best clearance player in the comp!

So we have gone from
- a very specific allegation in May 2010 around the Eagles "marketing / development" having a breech "far more significant" than North Adelaide.
- to the factual ascertion that that the Eagles were "looked at".

Nice retreat OTR, especially given there is regular communication between the salary cap staff and all clubs outside of the annual audit. Plenty of "looking at" occurs on a regular basis as the salary cap is complex and most clubs like to be proactive in getting clarifications done well before any audit.

All I know is that I have NEVER had a discussion with anyone be it inside the Eagles or to anyone from the SANFL regarding this special investigation you alledged. The only time I have heard of this is your post.

Almost 2 and a half years on, I think you got this one wrong.

Bit sensitive there Phil. North were being accused every 5 mins a few years ago. Just take it on the chins and move on.

Good point matt1.

We only lost the "6th place" highest goal kicker in 2012 who decided he was worth more somewhere else and did not want to be part of the South team.

We will replace him. Watch this space :)
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

Heard tonight the front of the North Adelaide jumper will change a bit to make their sponsors logo easier to recognise, stella homes not real happy with the way it looked this year.
