New York teams

Baseball - Yankiees and Mets
Hockey - Rangers and Islanders
Football - Giants and Jets

Could also add the Knicks and the Nets, soon to be moving to Brooklyn.

Generally though, American sports adhere to the one-team, one-town policy...

Net have been going to Brooklyn for like the last 5 years. They do stick to 1 team, 1 town with the exception of NY and LA, as they are the 2 most populated places in the USA and the 2 biggest media markets
The problem with Barcelona is that I like fish and chips but they had to turn it into calamari and patatas

Spot on.

I think the whole problem is Port didn't go into the AFL as the Magpies or at least as the Power but constantly linking itself to its Magpie traditions. Trying to appease non-Port supporters or disgruntled Crows supporters to adopt it has been a waste of time.

The club just needed to work out the business model that would be financially in the black with the number of supporters they actually have.

I agree that a non-Port AFL team will not steal Crows supporters but it will give an option to all those people, such as myself, who do not support the Crows and don't like Port.

But surely if you support AFL footy then you already have an AFL team, like me, I follow North Melbourne, so why would you change to some other hack team a la the Crows?

That said, I was just one of those people who stuck with my team rather than jump on the new improved funky team someone made up.

Yeah,right...

I think I quite possibly would. I actually semi-supported the Power in the early days (mainly as an alternative to the Camrys), until they started cranking up the 1870 / creed / true PAFC stuff that turned off so many other supporters.

This is the problem. I liked the 1870 / creed stuff.

The club just can't make everyone happy.

I was personally hoping Port Adelaide would enter the AFL and win 3-4 flags in a row and dominate and kick everyone's butt (with Roos flag here and there inbetween).

Crows to me weren't just a new funky team, it was a team from South Australia made up of South Australians going up against mainly the Vics. I was never passionate about the VFL or Sydney who I kind of followed, still rating the SANFL as my first stop and watching the VFL merely because it was on the TV.

I wonder how many other Crow supporters were like this and didn't actually jump ship as we are perceived to have done???

I actually went to Crows games early on, to support them on the side, but the bloody grief you'd get from the retards there when you supported a Vic side was just appalling. I ended up going every week barracking for every opposition team that came. This whole "team for all South Australians" thing also bothered me.

No one asked me if they represented me, so don't say you do and before people say lighten up, just get Port to change their slogan to "team for all Adelaideans" or some other rubbish and we'll see droves of people giving them hell, saying "you don't represent me". It was just dumb. Oh and the Camry Crows, what the hell was that?

C'mon you Pascals Cats!

Give'em hell Coca-Cola Hawks!

Geez.

The thing about the Crows is once they came in, Adelaide media and fans became everything we criticised Vic fans for being. i.e. self centred, arrogant, no one plays football but us. That was probably the worst thing of all and that's definitely what made me move completely away from having them as a second side and only supporting North Melbourne.

Hear, hear!
That's why I stayed with Collingwood.
And while I've had my doubts about it over the years, I only have to hear a rant from KG or Cornesey or someone like that to know I made the right decision.

Living on the West Coast away from the typical Crows supporter from Adelaide has probably helped. Not to many self centred, arrogrant people over this way, but I get your point. I do cringe sometimes at AAMI at my brethren and their comments, lack of knowledge etc

Jeez, I wanted the opposite. I was hoping for a few wooden spoons for them early on so they knew what it was like.

I am first and foremost a south supporter but followed Carlton until the crows come in.
The crows to me represent all SANFL teams are the team for all south australians!!!
