Whilst I didn't see what happened beforehand, TV doesn't always capture what goes on behind the play either - so if someone on radio said they saw something, we can't just assume he is lying. Anyway, it will all play out in the tribunal no doubt so let's see what happens. But I would be amazed if this was unprovoked as it was out of character.

Bullshit!
Out of character? Yes

The twins have built themselves on making more out of situations than is actually there. Anytime one brother sees something remotely bad happen to the other brother, it's on. Probably true, but it is usually push and shove, stand your ground stuff (and your team)

And don't get me wrong, great players and have added tremendously to the Dogs and their flags - but christ, I struggle to think of anyone more recent times who has had such white line fever. So you want players to go out and play with a meek and mild, "after you" attitude.

Short version: Schubert whacks James Gowans in the mouth, behind play, runs off. James Gowans loses his marbles. Chases him and hits him. Totally out of order. Retaliation but not on.

Every time a Gowans gets reported a Gowans gets off.You all watch he will get a slap on the wrist and play every game next year bar injury.

And any doggies fan that says the Gowans do nothing wrong on the field you guys are dreaming. But they get off every time so why report them.

Funny how most people who comment on what the gowans do on the field only see them play a couple of times a year. I think they abuse each other more than anyone else.If people took out the fact they play the game tough (NOT DIRTY) they would be in awe of how they actually play the game.
James was hit first on the half forward line about 5 or 10 seconds before his hit on schubert and then schubert ran off.
James should not have done what he did, but schubert should never have done that either.
I was probably more shocked that schubert did what he did considering he doesnt seem like that type of player.

He isn't that type of player. I was lucky enough to speak at length with Schuby last night and he is one of the friendliest and most down to earth footballers you will ever meet. Was one of the few players who really put their hand up for North yesterday. I just cannot believe that he would ever go out of his way to intentionally hit an opponent. Whatever the case there was no need for what Gowans did and Schuby has the shiner to prove it.

They both ended up with battle scars. Maybe you should rewind the tape back about 10 - 15 seconds before the gowans incident.

You are you kidding Pal.......You have straight up made that up.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I followed the whole incident from the niggle behind play and a minor wrestle that lasted 15 seconds that Schubert got the better of and pushed Gowans head into the turf .The ball was heading out toward that wing so Schubert took off.Gowans followed in a zig-zag mirroring Schubert and slowly closed in .This was a good 20 seconds after Schubert left the wrestle behind. He was going to belt him if the ball was there or not .He actually got lucky that Schubert found his was to the ball .

I have not commented on this before as it is going to sound like sour grapes from any North Supporter but these are the cold hard facts.

Agreed as did the rdio commentators on 5AA later say the same. The Gowans have to have some piss weak excuse to justify the cowardly action and if it was a square up even the Gowans are not dumb enoguh to king hit the wrong player so the piss weak excuses for the incident continue to have less credibility as the day goes on.

BP, I don't think that any Central supporter is excusing James for the action. They are just trying to explain that it was a retaliatory hit. It was stupid, reckless, unnecessary and James will pay a penalty for it. However, it was no worse than an action that Skipworth did during the Preliminary Final last year.

That's ridiculous. "They are just trying to explain that it was a retaliatory hit". Yeah that makes it fine then  Even primary school children know better than that. And trying to say it was no worse that Skipworth?? What Skipworth did was a disgrace and no what Gowans did wasn't worse but that doesn't mean squat. How are the 2 incidents related?

There was no niggle, the actual play was that Chris kicked the ball towards centrals half forward line and James, Schubert and two other players were running towards the ball when Schubert swung his arm towards James' head knocking James to the ground. Schubert ran off towards the ball on the wing and James got up and chased him. Take off the red and white glasses and see both had an impact on the incident.

The two incidents are related because North supporters are saying that they have never seen anything anywhere near as bad on the football field. I would say that both those acts were low and should not have happened. If you read my post properly, you would see that I am not justifying James' action in any way whatsoever. I have called it 'unnecessary, stupid etc. and that he will pay the appropriate penalty. Retaliation or not, it was an unjustified action.

Gee people have trouble understanding the smallest things. I have yet to see anywhere a dogs supporter saying Gowans did the right thing. Just like KG on the radio earlier asking dogs supporters if they knew the reason for it and then challenging them for defending his actions when they do so. Offering a reason and condoning the action are two very different things.

And if you've never seen anything like that, or think it's worse then the Sims incident or think he will get anything like double figure matches then you've officially lost touch with reality.

Anyway, this just appears to be a nice convenient topic to avoid talking about the GF. If you can't face it then just watch the cricket or something.

So the retaliation is worse than the first hit is it? I think they are both in the wrong.
The fact i think James is being singled out is because people have been waiting for something like this to happen involving James or Chris or both of them.
There is alot more to this than what people really want to look at.

While we are talking about hits anyone remember Gary Mcintosh cheap shot on Stuart Dew on the wing in the final at Footy park. Move on men
