I did hear that Centrals were going to try to get another ruck option once McKenzie pulled the pin and with Griffin no chance of playing for us at all. Milne certainly showed promise and Sutherland was more than serviceable in the games he played, but both are long term uncertainties and Milne still has to show he's recovered from his injury.

Just to squash all the rumours click here

"STURT great Brant Chambers has broken his silence on leaving the Double Blues by declaring he had no problem with the coach, players or management at Unley.

He said his decision to retire from the SANFL was purely for lifestyle reasons.

Chambers, 31, has secured two years' scaffolding work at a mining site in the central NSW town of Orange where he is living with his girlfriend. The pair lived apart last year and Chambers said it was a big factor in his decision to move interstate.

``After footy season I wasn't really sure where I was at, but the more I settle in (to Orange) the more I like the place,'' he said.

``I knew the end was coming soon, it was just whether I would push through another couple of years. I wanted to have a good think about it on my own because Sturt has been my life for 10 years, it's been everything to me.''

Chambers leaves as a 2002 premiership player after 204 games and 672 goals. He is the seventh-highest goalkicker in SANFL history and a triple Ken Farmer Medallist.

Despite leaving the club, Chambers was:

Adamant if he was still living in Adelaide, he would be playing with Sturt.

DENIED media reports he had ``gone missing'', saying Sturt knew where he was.

SAID he had not been approached by any other SANFL club to play.

``I think we've left on good terms,'' Chambers said of Sturt.

``I said to Mass (Duane Massey) and Normo (Luke Norman), it's got nothing to do with the coaching or players.

``I'm missing the boys heaps every day. There were just a number of factors falling against the option to go on.''

Chambers said he had ``loved every minute'' of his 10 seasons at Unley and was proud of his achievements.

``People were saying to me `you're edging your way up the goalkicking table', but I never played to get in the history books.

``You're driven to win premierships, I chased it for eight years and how long do you chase it for?''

He is yet to decide whether he will play country footy next season but said it was unlikely due to work commitments."

Hopefully that answers all the smartarse's claims that he left for football reasons.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Thanks for posting Voice.

A great champion whose strength and passion (oh, and ability to kick a goal or two) will be missed a great deal.

Perhaps they mean he's like Colville in that the team will ultimately be better off without him?

Macca got 2 of his own in 82 and 84, going well thanks for your concern!
After Macca was given his "Premiership" medal on the ground after 1997 he handed it back to club staff that night and he never received an official medal that is handed out by the SANFL at a function a week or so after the Grand Final.

Westies have lost Ryan Bennett back to Renmark. Disappointing but not unexpected!

yep, just had twins, his current employer keeps dumping extra work on him, has had excellent offers from the ammos, wants more money from Centrals because he came 3rd in the B & F last year, seems to have forgotten where he was just a couple of years ago but it's his choice i guess. Good luck to Henley, probably, not far from Heater's house in Pennington.

Lawry leaves and we don't get O'Brien. We could really do with a mid fielder. Leigh Westoff gone also.

Got to feel sorry for them

And not chasing a ruckman is interesting. Very week in that department IMO considering there are some very good experienced rucks at other clubs.

Never said I was happy, just said he was on their list... ;)

FWIW I agree with you Dutchy, I think the Dogs do need an experienced ruckman(and now a full back) but who am I to question Kris Grant?

Not sure what you all think but I am finding it interesting the lack of players that some teams have picked up... Genuine question; Do we expect that many quality players are left to be announced by Clubs?
