Yes and why?

If you were intelligent enough and knew how to put your team name in your profile I'd be able to have a robust discussion about the merits on whoever you follow....

And your reluctance to continue any robust discussion on my clubs merits. ;)

No hard feelings jabber. I wish you the best of luck in your quest for fifth.

Notice the article makes mention of him being alongside Judd Robson. I understand he is battling the dreaded OP.

Have been critical of Cockshell in the past, but I think his first year or two at South were an improvement on his Norwood form .. If he displays similar at Port in 2012 I reckon he'll be a mightily handy addition to the Magpies.

I can't believe Glenelg just let a young kid with the talent of Darcy Armfield just walk out. Glenelg continue to let home grown lads with untapped potential leave and import rubbish that leave when a better offer comes along.

I'm sure they would have tried to keep him but Darce and some of the others that have left didnt want to play league footy enough. And thats fair enough considering the money they are getting in the country and metro clubs.
The salary cap should be a lot higher so the clubs can pay these young lads more. Especially when in the U18's the commitment to training like a professional and completing year 12 demands a lot of their time and their parents as well (with 5am time trials in the city, training, rehab etc). Then when they get into the seniors they get payed bugger all. I cant blame them for going and getting good cash as a reward for a 3 year apprenticeship.

I think you will find Darcy wasn't even contacted by the Club -he had to make the first move and realised he didn't have much future at the Bay. Agree though, the money available in the country leagues is huge but my point is too many kids are being treated with a little less respect than the interstate recruits - and then the Clubs whinge when the kids leave.

Just a thought but why would the club contact him before organising the usual post season meeting which all the players have? That is the club's usual practice for all the players in the league squad. This gives the guys a break after their finals campaign, gives them time to think about what lays ahead for the following season, and they are fresh when they meet for the official interview with the club.
Darcy was in the League squad all year. He played 5 League games and was a Reserves Premiership player.
I think it is more that he wanted to have a life without 24/7 football committments for a while

I believe he maybe playing in Clare - where his Uncle - Frank Armfield is coaching. Apologies if I'm stating the obvious to those that already know.
