If I said what I thought about Ditchburn and his morals there's a good chance I'd be sued many times over. Well done to the players with intestinal fortitude and character to walk away from such a shamozzle!

Reminds me of the 'Bendigo Bombers' in the VFL, when Essendon had too much control.

Essendon's players filled the seniors and the reserves were made up of local players... but not the best local players, who were getting far better coin in the local Bendigo league.

The Bendigo Bombers reserves use to get pumped by around 20 goals each week!

So bad, in the end, they asked the VFL to withdraw from the reserves competition.

The WA Football Commission is considering further aid to Peel, though the club has received substantial assistance in the past, including a $350,000 loan that is still outstanding.

Thought reserves were supposed to be a financial boon for the club(s) involved, didn't realize that came in the form of handouts from the governing body.
Don't blame the players for walking. Who wants to play for a club that is no longer?
Lucky we have the hindsight of the WAFL experiment. I wish for their sakes they are able to undo this mess and put things back as they were. AFL don't give a rats arse about the game, just their AFL comp.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

Peel were so desperate former Dockers player Brad Bootsma had to pull on a guernsey and line up in the ressies. Not bad for a 41 year old I guess.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Disgraceful way for a state league to be treated.

SANFL DIRECTORS TAKE NOTICE

NO AFL IN THE SANFL
2017, 2019 & 2020 PREMIERS
RICHMOND, RICHMOND, RICHMOND.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

Good on those players for jumping ship. I don't know anything about this Ditchburn, but he sounds quite out of touch with reality.

If South became aligned to the Crows, I wouldn't blame any player, supporter, volunteer etc. for walking out. I certainly would be.

Feel free to jump on the Peel Thunder Facebook Page and give them a few thoughts!

https://www.facebook.com/peelthunder

Here is what they think,

EAST PERTH 20.17 (137) DEFEATED PEEL THUNDER 7.4 (46)

Despite a promising first quarter, the boys from Peel Thunder could not match it with an up and going East Perth.

Our inexperienced younger players in Hockings, B.Smith, Field, McKenna, Westwood and Forster really got to feel what it was like to be under extreme pressure. We as a team will stick together and make sure we give our best effort week in week out.

We have been disappointed with some of list walking away from their team mates, and not putting the team first. In the end it will be the resilience of the players and staff that hang in there whom will enjoy our successes when they come….and they will come.

Our better players on the day were Marlon Motlop, Toby Gianatti and Peter Faulks.

unfortunately i think that if the proposal is initially defeated, that wont be the end of it. particularly if it isnt 100% against the idea. if the afl clubs see a glimmer of hope, they will come up with whatever sweeteners they can to get another vote or two.

i see it like the one port merger. it was initially rejected, but it returned shortly after being "tweaked" to get more support, and in modified form, was approved. and look how well that has gone...

the only way for it to go away for good would be for the afl to actually bite the bullet and back an afl reserves league. but i dont see that happening any time soon either.

i would like to see a big majority of clubs vote no (ideally all should vote against, but i dont see that happening). if it is just the bare minimum three against expect there to be a swift return of a slightly altered proposal, as many times as necessary to get the extra vote.

out of curiosity, once the proposal has been voted on, will the general public be informed of the numbers, and more importantly, who voted for/against? or will it be secret squirell stuff?

Got my vote. What time? 3.30pm.?

I haven't had a big response to this, other than agile, cheers agile. Maybe just keep the protest to the games every week?

Not sure getting in the presidents faces is in our best interests anyway. Sounded like a great idea on Saturday night after a half a carton.
