To be fair to Norwood, it's not the first time they have appointed a recently (or not even) retired player to coach them.

Bob Hammond in 1974
Neil Balme in 1980
Neil Craig in 1991
Peter Rohde in 1996
Neville Roberts in 2000
Gary McIntosh in 2002
Dale Lewis in 2005
Trevor Hill in 2006
Nathan Bassett in 2010

Balme was 28 or 29 from memory, whilst most of the rest were in their (some early ) 30's

Great news for the rest of the clubs looks like the Norwood dynasty stops at 2.
Coaches taking over immediately at the club they just finished playing at almost never ever works. Cant make the tough calls on their mates especially premiership team mates

Of course you are.

But, I would question what would make you form such an opinion of Ben?

Have you ever the guy or spoken to him?

Ha, ha, ha. I fell for the Andrew Jarman press release at Glenelg but this one is not even close to believable.

When will the real announcement be made.

daysofourlives none of his premiership mates are there they have all retired or being drafted into the awful and the other two teams in our competition, so tough calls will be made to newcomers, going to be a massive list change for him to coach with. All the best to him I hope he continues our dominance over the other seven SANFL teams.

I guess I'm just thinking how Norwood fans were toward Trevor Hill when he was there...

Not that I think Norwood will slump to those lows again but I just find it an interesting decision...

I hope, for Dugga's sake (because he is a genuine top bloke), that it goes well...

I guess it is a bit experimental from Norwood's perspective, with no coaching experience for Warren, so therefore brings an element of risk to the appointment...

My guestimates on ages when they first coached Norwood ...

Hammond - mid 30's
Balme - 28
Craig - 35
Rohde - 31
McIntosh - 37
Lewis - 35
