Chris finished with 245 games, 332 goals, 9 Premierships, a couple of Jack Oatey Medals and a few state jumpers, among other honours...

James played 1 less, with 244 games, kicked 270 goals, won 9 flags, a Jack Oatey, a B&F and the state representation as well, amongst other honours...

Will finish up as great players with a phenominal record...

Look forward to seeing the book on the Twins released in coming months...

Hard question and might be silly one but who was regarded as the better player (if either)?
I always thought Chris has that slight touch of class above his brother but I probably got them mixed up!

To be reported after the siren in your last game for abusing the umpire is just embarrassing, but somehow also fitting.

Probably agree with you there Wedgie, Chris was probably the more skilled player, James perhaps a bit harder at it. The stats show that Chris kicked more goals and he certainly had the better goal sense of the two.

Not that it means anything, but James was the one who played a couple of AFL games, while Chris never managed a senior one...

What do they both plan to do now? Are they going to keep playing footy?

Chris and James Gowans were the keystone to the Dogs 1%er blueprint. We always lacked the necessary aggression and hard edge, and these two blokes provided it.

Gut runners, they were always out the front at preseason mostly because they wanted to beat the other. Great skills both sides, and in particular early on the ability that twins have to know where the other is instinctively.

The engine room until the very end, they were asked to come back season after season despite their misgivings in the last couple. Like true club men, they put the club before themselves and returned for this last year.

Champions and legends of the club.

It's been an honour to have these two guys come to Central in 2000 and from that day they've both given their all every week for the club jumper. 9 glorious premierships along with 12 straight Grand Finals turning us from a club known as 'pretenders' and being laughed at from others to being the envy of the other 8 clubs and a dynasty that will always be remembered.

Absolute top guys off the field too, it was a privledge to meet them.

Chris and James Gowans we thank you both and you will always be legends in the hearts of all CDFC supporters, in the Northern Suburbs and of course at the Central District Football Club

Not overly surprised with their final moments on the footy field, it's a pity the two of them didnt afford the game and opposition the respect that often was given to them.

But having said that, I'd imagine neither of them care how they will be remembered.

Waffle. If you mean the umpires being "the game", they got more respect than they deserved for that game.

Well done legends.
