A - Because last year there were 16 teams competing for the AFL Premiership so that was all they needed to include in the NAB cup.

This year there are 17 teams competing for the AFL Premiership so naturally they all must play in the NAB Cup. However you cant have a knockout tournament with 17 so the new format had to be devised.

I'll accept that the Foxtel Cup has been rushed and can understand (if not entirely agree) with the clubs not being comfortable to commit without knowing all the facts.

But PLEASE stop this rubbish that the whole thing was orchestrated to give the GWS potentially one game. For Gawds sake they could have just organised a few NAB Challenge games for them (as they have done!!!)

Do you really believe this comp was orchestrated to promote the state league football side.

It is simply a t.v space filler, like those five minute mini docos they have after a show finishes and before another starts.

I agree that the concept was borne out of Foxtel's desire to fill a gap in their programming - but that doesn't mean that it cant work well and promote state league footy. If it does ok in their eyes, I'm sure they will still fit it into their schedule next year even though they wont need to fill a gap.

I guess at the end of the day you are either in favour of a comp like this or not. I'm still to hear a feasible alternative version for those that are against the Foxtel Cup but in favour of a national state league.
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

Your obsession with white equating to gay is concerning. It's WHITE not pink or rainbow.
Would you prefer last years alternate guernsey with a big red cock on it, would that be less "gay" to you? :?

PS I assume you dont wear white shirts at all!

and it's not pink, it's coral or watermelon these days.

Coral red was the name of the colour the West Indies wore in the WSC One Dayers in 78/79. ;)

We’ve been going around in circles about this, so I thought I’d try as fair a summing-up as possible.

1 Has the competition been somewhat rushed? Yes

2 Is it put on mainly for Foxtel’s benefit? Yes

3 Does this matter? Opinion

4 Is it put on just for the benefit of GWS? Opinion

5 Is the prizemoney sufficient? Opinion, up to each club

6 Can players get injured? Yes

7 Can players get injured in a trial? Yes

8 Are there OH & S issues? Yes

9 Will these be covered? We don’t know

10 Are the SANFL clubs not taking part entitled to refuse? Yes

11 Are the SANFL clubs taking part entitled to participate? Yes

12 Are the Boards of some smarter than the others? No

13 Is it all an AFL plot against the State Leagues? Conspiracy theorists only?

14 Will it harm the final’s chances of those taking part? Time will tell

15 Will the major sponsor be on the Guernsey? Yes

16 Will Foxtel’s sponsor sign dominate? On the back

17 Will the Guernsey be an AFL Guernsey? No, SANFL branded

18 Will an SANFL team have to play 2 days in a row? No

19 Are West, Port and North ‘rubbish’ for partaking? Opinion, but arrogant ?

20 Will the competition only last one year? Opinion, but possible

21 Is it a meaningless, worthless competition? Opinion, but arrogant?

22 A National competition, not AFL run, possible? Yes, but hard to see how

23 Not all top teams, so comp not a ‘Champions’ League? All teams were invited

24 Are Centrals the best SANFL team? Yes

25 Are fans disappointed they’re not participating? Yes

26 Are they entitled not to participate? Yes

27 Are SA Footy posters in favour or against the comp? Yes, a majority of all fans

28 Am I biased? Yes

29 Is the above fair, allowing for my bias ?

Debatable - some of North's Board don't qualify as smart in terms of their lack of input in all club matters!
Piss weak SANFL and the CLOWNS who run it.

That doesn't necessarily make them dumber than any other board :)
