Kris Grant did say there was a perception, you're right.
But he didn't perpetuate that notion by indicating Centrals shouldn't have night games, as the Glenelg guru did.
There's a significant difference between what was said by the respective officials.
But you are right, it's a business call and a smart move, as it's just the sort of thing that the burghers sitting on the board would've wanted to hear.
It's sad a club has to go to those lengths tp get lights, which will bring a benefit to the community.

Nice shot of Hunty too.
I squeeze in there in the corner as well.

A perception is a perception, no point denying it if one exists, which is clearly the case. As to doing something about it, what do you do to change a perception? The club worked very hard to weed out the trouble makers and the hope is that with less people damaging the image of the club that in time people will eventually change that perception.

But I still say that if Glenelg feel it's only a perception and not reality that altering policy is sad. It might be a good "business" decision, but it makes it no less an indictment on society that perception is so much more important than fact in this case.

The residents who are fighting against the lights being installed don't care about facts .

They are more worried about highlighting some things MIGHT happen.

People MIGHT leave empty bottles on footpaths
People MIGHT be rowdy walking back to their cars
People MIGHT urinate against their letter boxes.

The whole fight and court case is about their Perceptions - that's half the friggin' problem.

GFC CEO was addressing one of THEIR perceptions, and trying to find a way of combatting it.

I'm sure he didn't expect it to make it onto the front page of the Ragvertiser

a post by someone in the know on the cdfc forum mentions the fact the GFC contacted CDFC on the day of that article to explain their stance. the media choose to ignore this bit.

i voted cdfc on that poll as did other cdfc supporters.

Apparently it's only 7 residents who are opposing the lights. I grew up 3 blocks away and my parents still live there. From day one there were cars parked all up our street on the weekend.

SO WHAT!

Unconfirmed rumour has the Football oval being there from about 1910. I'd say that's longer than the local home-buyers.

Mate, if you could PM me your folks address......it's difficult finding a park down there at the best of times.......a spot of dinner after the game wouldn't go amiss either.......I'm quite partial to crayfish.......look forward to hearing from you.....

To buy a house across the road from a major football club and then complain about the workings of that football club, is not unlike taking a big slurp out of the toilet bowl and then complaining that the water tastes funny.

Were they playing night footy in 1911 though? The residents affected still have a right to raise their objections.

Or...was he not going to allow KG to push one of his regular agendas, instead allowing the man himself to reveal his usual agenda and let those who breath on his every word agree with him and nod their heads sagely, knowing that they are right in their myth building?
