By the way the fortnight is up. Where is the announcement?

100% agree, that was the same stance as the last proposal which was unamiously voted against. it makes about as much sense as beenreals statement "there is nothing you or the sanfl can do about it".

When it clearly states the sanfl commission Has to approve it. Been real and facts are not close is all I can tell ya.

From the SANFL...

ONE PAFC PROPOSAL UNDER CONSIDERATION

At this morning’s meeting, the SA Football Commission viewed a detailed presentation relating to the One PAFC proposal, which was prepared by the Port Adelaide Football Club and Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club in conjunction with the SANFL.

The Commission will now take time to consider the proposal, with a decision likely to be made in coming weeks.

The decision will be made jointly by the Commission and the SANFL League Directors.

Should the proposal receive endorsement, both the Commission and League Directors would need to use their separate powers to allow an amalgamation to go ahead.

1. The Commission controls the AFL licence. It would need to make relevant changes to Port Adelaide Football Club’s sub-licence agreement for the One PAFC proposal to progress.

2. The League Directors hold the power to make alterations to the SANFL Constitution. Changes to the Constitution would need to be made for the One PAFC proposal to progress.

This would not be done without the Commission’s approval to alter the AFL sub-licence.

The Commission will not be making further comment on the detail of the proposal until the League Directors have an opportunity to view the presentation next week.

I like this comment:

And it has reaffirmed the plan is about strengthening all of SA football, not just the bottom line at the financially challenged Power

They said that about 1990 as well.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Time to start worrying about your own clubs boys, because the days of kicking the Magpies around are coming to an end!

And I can think of nothing better. Reading so many of you whinging about it runs a close second though. 8)

I don't think having an opinion on the welfare of the league, and being concerned about if one team is going to get an unfair advantage, is whinging.
Perhaps, if it does get through, Port will start running out of others to blame.

No-one ever cared about the Magpies getting an unfair DISadvantage by losing 75-85% of their revenue!

To do what? To say to the SANFL, "we want to hand over 75-85% of the revenue generated by the Port Club to the AFL side?"

The old saying of "Be careful of what you wish for" comes quickly into my mind.

For me, It's not about wanting the SANFL Magpies to die.
It's about a club who thought they were too good for SANFL Comp, who fought tooth and nail to join the AFL. Who achieved their dream to become AFL Port Power, and then found themselves not being able to survive in the Dreamworld it joined.
For me it should be about the Power surviving with it's assets, membership base and Sponsors without any SANFL clubs surviving in debt and sub-standard conditions.(including the Magpies I strongly emphasise here)

Has anyone heard whether the "One Port Admin" will offer sponsorship and membership packages for people who only want to support One or the Other Port Teams, and not both.

I know plenty of people who support Port Power, but not the Magpies (including a couple of sponsors). Those I've asked about the merger have already said they don't want their money going to the Magpies pool. And we all know there are plenty of Magpies people who feel the same way about the Power receiving any of the money they have put in to save their SANFL team.

It's totally out of our control, of course, but I desperately hope the SANFL are not pandering to the whims of Dimitriou (who is still smiling at $$$ bonus after his last venture against the wishes of the SANFL Board)

So.....if the proposal is rejected there is a chance the Magpies go broke and die.......with the end result being.........One PAFC :?

Or the Power can close down the Magpies arm of things leaving us with one Port.

Pretty sure they had bigger issues to concern themselves without worrying about what was going to happen 15 years in the future.

Well you'd think there would be a Tier 1 option which includes both, a Tier 2 which is the Power and a Tier 3 which is the Magpies. Im sure they wont be charging Magpies fans $380 just to go to the SANFL.

you were given 1 million dollars to start a new sanfl club who had Won 36 flagson it's inception. And from day one you had an demographic of loyal fans to market to. so is it the Sanfl fault you
didn't buy a pokie parlour and set a revenue stream from day one.

So eventhough it was negotiated by the pafc that there would be a 80/20 split with revenue made out of alberton. It was the sanfl who took 80% of Your revenue away???

Every sanfl club has had to change since the invention of the afl clubs. WHere our market share was taking from us. Having port fans repeat "what about revenue, it's all about revenue, tell me
about revenue" rain man style really shows your lack of understanding on this issue. Sorry let me show you the rebuttal "can I ask you about expenditure" of the club who is Currently $5.5 mill in
debt after numerous handouts this year?? How much damage does that do yo the sanfls bottom line.

Sorry Im not a port fan and I'll never support a sanfl team having an unfair advantage over the 8 others via unfair cuts in EXPENDITURE not afforded to any other club.

btw port fans Don't start with "but your happy for the other 8 to have an advantage over us". Cos I'll Simply ask so you port fans don't want to be in the afl anymore ??? yea you do .

The issue I have is what percentage of the membership do the Magpies Get. or is it a set amount?

I know alot of fans who go to every game that will not buy memberships if their money does not go directly to the Magpies.
